I have a 2017 Polaris 900 with 23,200 and change on it. I have put lots of parts in it over the years. Wheel bearings at 17,000, Clutches at 20,000 were the two big dollar parts. I had to put all new bushings in and have broken a couple of sway bars over the years but overall it has been a good outfit. Keep the oil changed and keep all the bushings greased and the air filter blown out and you will have a lot less problems. Mine gets used HARD all year long between fencing, spraying weeds and cow work. It is amazing where the dang things can go. They are way over priced and the parts are expensive but what isn't these days. I use it for trapping in the winter and the heated cab is sure nice!
I can't believe that cop put me in the back seat when I clearly called shotgun.

Anyone own a Yamaha? In my opinion they make excellent outboards. Just wondering if their ATV and UTV products are on par with their OBs. I have a 2018 viking 700 with full cab and i love it. Ehat fo you want to know ab them?

HERE IS MY 2 CENTS WORTH run as fast as you can from a Polaris dealer . I have a 800 I have used it on the farm and trapping started out using a quart of oil about every 100 miles I bought a extended warranty at the end of their 6 month warranty. At about 9 month I had it worked on they paid nothing on the repair said that was normal wear at that time that was $1500 repair. Things has not been good through the years 4 new belts and little things like that fast forward November 2020 it would go no more took it in for repair completely rebuilt the motor they had it till late July trouble getting the parts they needed due to covid got it back drove it 4 miles went down again clutch and lifter problem. It is in the shop as I am posting this. On May 25 I put a $500 deposit on a Honda 700 Pioneer they called that it is in. I have had one repair bill in July for $3200 on my junk Polaris do not know what this one will be they can not find what is making the oil pressure go off the chart they said they would eat the labor i would eat the parts. I also have 3 friends and family members that they say they will never own a Polaris again. My Polaris has got 6400 miles on it that is 640 miles a year since I own it I feel i have paid dearly for it, THAT IS MY 2 CENTS WORTH,

I have an 08 Ranger 700 XP that I bought new in 2008. I am right at 6500 miles. I wanted a Honda, but at the time Honda kept delaying the release of their utv. It has been ok but far from trouble free. It is noisy and has a lot of vibration. My header pipe cracked from vibration. I replaced the belt at 5500 miles. I have also replaced a fuel pump, throttle cable, at least 4 sets of front brakes, rear sway bar, front axle joint. It has been very hard on front brakes.
In comparison I bought a 96 Honda 4x4 ATVs in 1996 new and the only thing I have done to it is oil change, brakes, and a starter. It’s not showing any signs of slowing down.
I will be in the market for another utv before I retire in the next few years and it will be a Honda unless they really screw something up in the next few years.

Nobody has mentioned the John Deere gator. I have a 625I with 900 hours on it and very few problems. Like the mule it's a workhorse. I rode in a buddy's Ranger 1000 one time and immediately noticed the side to side swaying that my gator doesn't have. It also seemed built a lot cheaper to me.
The Polaris is real popular around here. But I think the gator is a much better built machine. Not as fast but more comfortable and reliable.
If you consider a gator go with the full size 6 or 8 hundred series not the smaller 5 hundred ones.
I know a farmer who has an older 620I gator that he works the heck out of and has 5000 hours on it and its still going. That's the equivalent to 50,000 miles at 10 mph or 100,000 at 20mph. It has a Kawasaki engine as does mine.

I sold a REALLY nice can-am four wheeler to get a ranger.
I curse the day.
I’ll never own another Polaris product. Nickel and dime BS, one “little” thing after another, than the tranny went out.
I’d buy just about ANYTHING over a Polaris.

Do what the boys who use these UTVs day and night have done on the ranches here in Texas. Ground is rock hard, clutches get eaten on the grades, and they can't afford to have them "in the shop" often at all.
ALL of the ranches have switched from ALL owning Polaris and gone to Kawasaki (one ranch went Honda). I did too.
Spartan tires (Kevlar did not hold up long enough) Skid plates. Brush guards. Winch. Biggest they make.
If you use them hard, use one that can run hard and not be "in the shop," Polaris cheapened along the way they tell me to dive deep into their CanAm lineup for pleasure riders. My latest Kawasaki is at 8,900 miles and only had routine maintenance.
Blessings, Mark

Not a Ranger but a Polaris RZR and I have had zero issues with it other than the aftermarket doors do rattle. I have quieted them some with some rubber bushings. Lots of aftermarket upgrades and add ons. I do have a 6' plow for it. I am looking to add taller bed sides and looking for a set of used tracks for it but engine runs great with zero issues.

I have a couple 2000 Polaris 500 sportsman 4 wheelers that are still going strong. I have a 2008 Yamaha 800 Rhino SxS that is still doing great and after a 7 month wait my Polaris XP1000 Northstar Ultimate was delivered 2 days ago. I love the closed cab with heat and air. My stuff doesn't sit out beside the barn and gets maintained well and greased with a marine grease that doesn't wash off. Ran Polaris sleds back in the day too. Lots of Rangers around and people seem to love them. I have a 2015 Chevy truck that looks great but I have seen some beat to death and that is the difference in how people take care of things.

I don't have experience with any other brands, but I worked on a farm that had two UTV's. One five years old, one older (maybe ten?). They both broke down more than I felt a reasonably good piece of equipment should, and we serviced them religiously.

I have a diesel Polaris ranger full cab with heat, Air, PTO. Don’t use it that much because it’s so slow you can walk faster up a steep hill.
