"Dotard" Probably a derivative of "doty"
A genuinely archaic word dug up by Kim Jung Un, and applied to DJ Trump.
If only he could have imagined who Trump's successor would be!

Yep punky is the word we always used for rotted wood. Although now it's coming back to me that I HAVE heard doty used, but in it's other context... as another word for senile. As in, look at that doty old man that thinks he's President of the United States.

As in, look at that addle and doty old man who thinks he is President of the United States, who just walked out while names were being read at the World Trade Center September 11th Memorial service. Now addle, I've heard used mostly as a verb. As in, look at that doty old man who thinks he's the President of the United States, clearly his brain is addled.

In Riverboat parlance a "Towhead" was a small sand bar island, parallel to the current that had tree's growing on it. A "Fortnight" is 2 weeks I think is "Doubty", as in in unsure of it's soundness Momma used to ask us kids if we were "Addlepated"? "Tote sack" "2 bits, 4 bits, 6 bits = $.25, $.50 $.75: The Spanish "Real", or Piece of eight", was about on par with the US Dollar, so 1 "Bit" was 1/8 of a Dollar, or 12.5 Cents, so 2 bits was a quarter of a dollar, and so on.
