Does having the intake below the bottom of the haul increase slide when cornering?
Boat has always had slide, intake has always been 1 1/2 low on the 4 motor in the past [Linked Image]

Just over powered my 14 footer with a 100 at the pump.
Be interested to see if I live.

The deeper below the hull the more it will help hold against the slide.

If I understand you're saying the leading edge of the jet foot is 1 1/2" below the hull. The leading edge of the jet foot should be 1/4" below the hull. With it any farther down you are creating drag, spray, and much more likely to hit something. Sliding is the nature of a jet, you could add chines to both sides of your center chine if you want more control.

I have been running a Phantom SJ which is an inboard jet for a long while now and slide or drift can be countered by letting off the throttle as you enter a turn and then powering out of the turn. Not sure if that will work the same with an outboard, but is worth a try.

I agree on chines ^^^^^i
I have a Wooldridge jet with a tunnel and the chines are fairly large. I always thought that was what helped with slide. I attached a picture of what keeps my boat from sliding. I think its more like a skeg than a chine. Anyway this might help.

I love the smell of burning spruce---I love the sound of a spring time goose---I love the feel of 40 below---from my trapline I will never go!

Some hull designs are more prone to chine walk.

I did a day job at lodge and showed up at 7 and the first thing I noticed was the foot on the jet was on backward, Does that increase slide? IMO you want some slide to make hairy corners. To much slide is dangerous.

30 years paid outboard jet operator here. Never sunk a boat or killed anyone yet.

Raise your foot!

P.S. Faster boats, mean faster decisions. Good Luck!
