I think the early youth hunt is great to get the young ones out! It was warm today. I don't like the guys who grumble, and I have heard them, "I been watching that buck all summer, and kid down the road shot it a month early" The parents are as proud of the kids deer as if it was their own, and I am fine with that, they should be.
you're only allowed so many sunrises... I aim to see every one of them!

Just got winded. For some reason the deer came in from behind us tonight not on the trails. It blew and left. Never saw it but my daughter jumped out of her seat. She just asked if she gets to gut and drag her deer if she gets one and who am I to say no. In fact she can gut and drag mine also.lol
Wish I had more time to trap....

Got winded again later. Still have memories though. She is excited about going tomorrow even after sitting in the blind 4.5 hours with no electronics. What kid does that anymore. Didn't help that it was 85 when we started the hunt and 72 when we left the woods. In will post pictures if we score tomorrow.
Wish I had more time to trap....

Bow season begins October 1. We will be out. Nothing so far tonight and it is 630. About 2 hours left but they are my favorite 2.

Well, youth hunt over and we didn't bring one home. Had a deer come by at about 805 and had a clean miss. Daughter had never shot at a deer before and said she was shaking a lot. When we went to check she hit a small tree just behind the deer a couple feet. The bulldog entered the tree about 6 inches above the ground. Oh well, maybe next time. She can hunt all regular season also so we have plenty more chances.

She can hunt all regular season also so we have plenty more chances. my son hated me at times for all the shooting I made him do , he likes shooting , he just disliked the way I had him doing it , I was going for rushed and flustered. but safe I would put out several targets just a paper plate with a number on a carboard backer they would be all over the range from 25 to 100 yards at odd distances then we would go for a walk down range walking slow like hunting walk , 3 steps look around , 3 steps look then I would call off a number and he had just a few seconds to hit that target any where on the paper plate counted. he got better at it and when I flushed a doe out to him on the last drive of the last day we were going to be able to hunt the year he was 12 , he got it , that doe saw him stopped about 30 yards and he broke the shot just as she stopped went down like a ton of bricks shoulder hit. work on number or letter to shot on target , with a timer or stop watch , you can use a 22lr to save on ammo costs but after they get good follow up with a some rounds from their deer gun repetition makes it smooth , natural and cuts time. fast is smooth and smooth is fast.
America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.
