Last year I spent a few weeks chasing wood for the boiler down but I loaded up and did not use as much as I have in past years. This year the wood has been either coming to me or I pick it up a couple miles from the home place. My one buddy does tree work and he was in the area working so he dumped 3 loads last week of ash, elm and honey locus (first time dealing with locus) Another neighbor a couple mile away is putting a new house in so he cleared 3 dump truck loads of elm, also got 2 huge ash trees from another neighbor. The neighbor next door cut elms in the spring and again did a few weeks ago he delivers the wood to my landing with his Bobcat another load came from the other side of the interstate mixed wood but it will burn. Last years wood on the right some dry added to it, new pile on the left about 15 yards deep. Mostly new wet for next year some dry in small piles to the left and in back that needs to be split then moved and stacked. This landing was clear of wood this spring so it has added up this summer. Still have 2-3 trailer loads at another neighbors place of dry stuff to start out the season with once the crops are out and I can get to it.

Still looks like a lot of work but that sure beats having to go get it. I’m fortunate to have a couple of county highway guys that drop of wood here. Usually get red oak or ash.
Looks like he needs another year;-)

I take what they get for me size wise if it’s a 4 foot stump I take it no problem. I have a couple poker bars to move it around with and a custom made splitter that can’t be stopped I just chip away at it, I like the challenge.

Same here Jerry. Never saw a chunk of wood that would not burn. I have this years firewood sorted out and the pile for next year and the year after hat is growing. Mostly read oak and hickory.

Ash and elm here mostly I pass on cottonwood when I can if a little is in a load I deal with it. The funny thing here is you find different types of trees in the towns for some reason. Hackberry I get out of one town the locus out of a different town I’ll need to research that. LOL

Juniper and madrone are pretty hard to beat.

I like the idea of you getting all that wood but wy wouldn't you cut it to length and let it dry? Just was delivered over the last few weeks it will get cut to 30 inches the bigger stuff will be split most of the longer/wet stuff will be for next year.
