Looks like I'm going to be freezing all my furs from the winter. Everything is put-up and trapper dried. I know it would be best to lay them flat in the freezer but my cats and yotes will not fit. Is it ok to fold them our will they always have a crease in them once thawed back out next fall?
Thank Griz

If gently folded - not creased - in half or in thirds, they will be just fine next season. When you take them out of the freeze, a couple of quick shakes and you won’t know they were folded. BTW - it takes a lot of pressure to crease a coyote pelt.

One thing to watch out for are the CITES tags. When frozen in a freezer, it is possible to break them. Just use caution.

Don't have freezer space. Would the giant vacuum bags for pillows & stuff work?

Ya can't miss fur if yur traps are out somewhere.

If you use big vacuum bags for storing fur, store them in a cool, dry place. And put some moth balls or moth sticks in the bag before sealing.

I know it's been awhile & hope I don't sound too stupid, but what's the purpose of moth balls or sticks?

Just place your cats and coyotes In the shape of a semi circle In the freezer no need to fold. Just leave the head end ride up one side of the freezer and the tail end up the other side. Fold the coyote tails back Inside the hide.

I'm doing a little test right know on some rats. I caught several rats on a ADC job back In June. I put them up and dried them and just let them hang In my shop. So far they look just the same as when I put them up In June. I'm not suggesting anyone doing that but so far they are BUG free.

Beav,
I haven't gotten into to rats yet and don't know much bout em but I heard sometime ago that another way to store rats is to lay/stack them nose up in a cardboard box with saw dust on tje bottom & in between. Do you think this woukd be good or would the saw dust soak up too much oil..
