Coonman….Trap to Jan 1 or so. Then try to get a job working for a Iowa fur company or even GWF company in ILL from January to March 31. You will need to bring your camper with you but you will be around the fur industry that you like. Skinning and fleshing. The GW brothers are good folks. I worked for them a few months back in the 1980’s when jobs were tough to find. Only reason I left was I needed better Insurance. But you could make enough money in 3 months than working all year. They would I bet work a deal out with you were they would cut you a check every week or 2 and not mess up your SS. That’s what I would do. It’s a very very interesting place to work.

2 hrs from here an I own house, as far as I know, except higher up an mgm an office ppl, groenwold is like nafa with employees , all Mexican , so did nafa, they hire from express, if u weren't Mexican, u were pretty high up position , that way things go nowdays, as bad off as fur industry is an broke as Illinois is, i have no idea but I bet 2 yrs back an still now, them Mexicans not get much , 6 yrs ago , I believe nafa pay crew of Mexican at least cpl hundred in Stoughton. I was told $10 bucks hr, an lots overtime , some not like it n quit, no show up work , most of it was at ranch operation but seen some in wild fur with measure boards or sizing , ticketing or scan bar code hides

Dave, You seem to have the gift to read people and form your impressions rather quickly. You know you are a hard worker and what lazy workers look like. You know that you don't care for some minorities and certain ethnicities. You don't trust what others have tried hundreds of times to explain to you about trapping, ROW's and market prices etc., etc. And, you know when people are lying about what jobs pay per hour.

So, I guess the obvious question is: Why don't you apply for a position in Human Resources?

Coonman. …. GWF they are good people. It was one of the best jobs I ever had. It was like I was not even going to work. I worked in the tan fur room. Boxed up and shipped fur all over the USA. But they have lots of jobs. You don’t know until you talk to them in person. Like I said work from Jan1 when most of the coon trapping is over to April 1.
It was really a interesting job. Have you ever seen a 44 pound raccoon hanging from a scale ? I did at GWF.
Did you ever see a 81 pound beaver hanging from a scale ? I have at GWF. I think you would enjoy working there. Take a camper work and live there for 4 months. Make enough money to get you through the rest of the year and not mess up your SS. It’s one of the few places I think you would enjoy working at.
I don’t know what else to tell you. I have been in Mfg Management for 42 years. Hated every day of it chasing people out of crapper and making them work. GWF was one of the funniest jobs I have ever had in my life. Marty
