Great job Mr. Dahlgren! I haven't been goosing in some time. My All Purpose Boy and I used to really hunt the "Early Goose Season" hard. I really enjoy it, got gobs of decoys, etc. I also really enjoy grilled goose breast as well!

I envy you guys that have geese that can be put on the grill. When we go out west you can grill them like a sirloin steak, but if you did that to our NC resident geese it would be like eating a tire! We stick with summer sausage/snack sticks instead
Gotta live up to the nickname...

Went out this morning for the first time in 8 years. Only three geese came in. Two flew over into a green yard/field on the property, and the third landed right in front of me on the water. I missed it at ten yards. Arrow went about two inches in front of his breast. Even with the recurve, it should have been a gimme.

how are you guys doing hunting geese our duck season open on the 25 its been below average around me. i've been out 11 times and about half number of birds would normally get. the local bird population is off as some of the more wealthy lake associations have paid to have them removed early in year. guess at least some adc guy got some money out of em. and its been super hard to get into feeding birds as a fair amount of dirt that may have been wheat in prior years is in standing corn. get in the right place and you can still have chance at birds but not like some years when we just expected a daily limit on a fairly small rotation of fields. today is right at the mid-point of the early season so i'll likely resort to hitting some water now. i try to hold off as long as possible to not bust up the roosts at first. regular duck season is still a long way off down here.

Our resident goose season runs the entire month of September. Limit is 15 per day, no plug required in gun and electronic calls are OK. Extended hours also, 30 minutes before sunrise to 30 minutes after sunset. If you can find a place they are using regularly, you can work on them. They have been sporadic on our place this year. Been a couple time and only killed 5 so far. Hay just got baled and they should be hitting to fresh tender growth if we can get a shower to help the grass grow.
