Years ago Neal Bortz helped fund a study comparing the money it took to save 1 addict thru rehab vs the war on drugs.
The conclusions were mind blowing

Don't know what drug those people in the video are on, but that's disturbing. But, they have to get it from someone, and the someone's are the ones that need harsher punishment. Should be a zero tolerance policy for drug dealers. You deal, you die. Drug mule, you die. Smuggler, you die. But, we don't even execute murderers, rapists or child molestors, so that will never happen.

Except the only “dealers” that get arrested are themselves addicts trying to support their habit. The people bringing fentanyl in by the ton are never “caught”. I suspect it’s because they pay for political campaigns

Addiction is not Political, Racial, Sexual, or Predictable.
There are an amazing number of addicts that no one recognizes or sees,
Just saying
Sometimes it is unpredictable, yes. My dad has a friend when I was growing up. Spent a lot of time at his house, his 2 boys were close to my age. Happy married, good job, house paid off, two teen sons. Started smoking crack in his late 40s. His wife kicked him out. He had a some kind of classic car, all restored and pretty. He lived out of it for a year or so until he sold it for drugs too. Last time I saw him he was picking cigarette butts out of the ashtray outside of Walmart to smoke.

While I agree it's an issue that need dealt with, is the video really kid friendly for Tman? I didn't watch it in it's entirety so I may have missed something. But of what I did see... I think it's something all kids should be made to watch! Play that stuff to them from grade school on. That video is chilling! Kids should get a first hand look of what drugs can actually do!

Just seems weird to me that Paul don't allow swearing, but we have a video of folks shooting up, doing meth or whatever and borderline OD'ing. My kid doesn't come on here so I don't have a dog in this fight.

Legalize all of it, but life sentences for any crimes committed caused by drug addiction..... robbery, petty theft, selling to minors etc. It would keep the non-problem causers from clogging up the prison system, and keep the problem causers away from polite society forever, because they'll likely never change their ways. That would cover a lot, if not most, crimes. Criminals often are high on alcohol or other drugs when committing their crimes. The drug gives them false courage, or else they're just high all the time. Jim

I think we should legalize, put the addicts somewhere, and provide care for them until they succeed in killing themselves. It's not only the charitable thing to do, but I'm tired of tripping over them everywhere whenever I go to Seattle or other big city.
It's a cheaper solution than the War on Drugs, more compassionate, and may be more effective. Could not be worse than what we have now.
I found that video sickening, Danny, and couldn't watch it for very long.

Drop them off in the bush.Like a nuisance bear in town. Spray paint them so you know if they come back.

Yep it is sickening. And I think its never to young to see what happens when you decide to try a narcotic

My kid doesn't come on here so I don't have a dog in this fight. The problem is that society, especially some of the media, glorify drug use and make it look fun and exciting. Seeing the harsh reality of how drug use destroys human lives, will prevent many children from taking their first steps on that slippery slope to personal destruction. Keith
