Looking for a scope for my wifes henry 243. I want something with a very wide field of view. This will be her 1st time hunting. Just learned to shoot and figured she is right handed and left eye dominant. So she will be shooting left handed. No long shots and I dont want to spend a ton of money.

I like Leupold too. I also have several Vortex scopes that won't break the bank and they seem to be good, clear scopes.

I really like Vortex for affordable scopes. Leupold are good but IMO not enough better than the Vortex to justify the extra cost.

https://www.opticsplanet.com/vortex-riflescopes-dbk-m-04p.html - would be my pick based on the info you gave.

I ended up putting a sig sauer 2x7x32 on it with extra high mounts. The eye piece on the scope is larger than normal and the gun is a single shot. Still too close to the hammer for her to use. Put see through mounts on it and ok with the hammer. But the stock is a little long for her and she keeps putting her head back. So I found a 2x red dot and stuck that on it. Didnt get time to shoot it yet. Guess I have a spare scope and some mounts. Its been a pain trying to get a gun to fit her. I might buy a youth stock for it sometime. I hate to cut the nice stock down and screw it up.

if it is your wife's gun , I would figure her length of pull and cut it , maybe have a smith do a nice job of it

better to make one really well fitted to her gun that she uses and calls her own than to worry about cutting a stock and having a ho-hum gun that she isn't happy with

get it fitted to her

happy wives aren't cheap but neither is leaving them at home , they make lists of things they want done while your hunting.

Sounds like you need to just buy here a youth model gun and start from there.

I have a 1x4 Leupold that must be 40-50:years old. Below 2.5x it is easy to shoot with both eyes open. On lower magnifications, I see the barrel in my scope view, which speeds target acquisition on running deer.

Mine is on a Rem 742 which I haven’t used in 20 years. Scope and rifle both are flawless.

I agree with this. But 300$ is the starting point.

Burris full field 2 2x7 is around 160$ or the 3x9x40 is about the same. I had 4 of them 3 were perfect. One has been beet to heck and still perfict.

I had one the didnt hold zero sent in in and had a new one in the box back in my hand in 4 days. Now the iv line looks nice but production of those is in china so i would not buy one of those.
