Is rebar ok or is some other kind of iron stock better? Grapples would be mainly for coyotes possibly wolf and wolverine.

I have never caught a wolf or a wolverine. MTP sells drags made from 5/8 rebar. They are decent in the right kind of country for coyotes. They work good in brushy stuff. Welding up some on your own would not be difficult if you can access some old or cheap rebar. Chain is the pricey part of drags.
