I’ve seen a few older threads on this and this great forum is where I got the idea…
I pulled all the cable off of my Belisle 330/160 and am replacing it with #4 machine chain. I only run a dozen of each so the increase in weight isn’t that big a deal. I just don’t like cable at all. Tired of the kinks, fraying, and cuts.

Anyway I added a teardrop swivel to the spring eye of each trap and the chain to that. I will close the other end with an 1/8” quick link or the smallest spring EZ they make. I put 6’ on the 160s and 10’ on the 330s. The chain is 35.00 a 100’ on Amazon. Got it in 2 days. The “working load” for the chain is #215lbs I think.

The rusted chain is #2 machine chain from one of the trapping houses and is on my #11s.

I went to the same chain as on #1 Vic longs for the same purpose. A bear stole a beaver and broke it but would have pulled the stake. Otherwise been flawless. No more tripping over cable.

I had my 18 yo try to break a piece of it today. He is 6’4 about 300lbs and he couldn’t budge it. I may get even more of it and put on my other #11s.

It’s actually went down to 30.00 a 100 now.

I may even make some short drowners out of it for mink and raccoon.

Just a quick follow up. A small size Sleep EZ fits thru that chain easy.

Tight chain and prime fur.
