So anyone actually mess with this trap ? Asked on fb but can't seem to find anyone. Only seems to be sold in Canada. Says it's reccomeded for coyote lynx and has been certified for wolves.

Looks like those smooth wide jaw faces would allow for some slippage.
I wonder how they stand up to a critter chewing on them.

So finally found two guys who had some experience with these .
One fella said the jaws are about like steel as far as hardness and the springs are a pain to set. I can see then because it had a new house style base
Other guy said his friend has a few and said they work well on coyotes and cats even managed a few wolf

the guy I buy trapping supplies from has had the same one hung on a peg on the wall for 5 or 6 years now that no one has bought. looks kind of strange and id rather use my sleepy creek 4 1/2.

watched the video on setting it and making a dirt hole, looks like the guy removed about 5 gals of dirt for the trap bed, but he was burying his drag and chain., looked a little rough to bed. Spring hooks don't stay on the springs, guess you carry them in your pocket once the trap is set. But at 119.00 (can) each. to much for my wallet.

I've handled a few at the conventions.
Extremely strong trap.
They are used mostly by trappers in quebec.
They are a lot lighter in weight than other wolf traps.
I rarely use footholds for anything anymore so I have no experience with them on the line.

Some day I will buy one. Just concerned about the base plate holding up to a wolf yanking on it. But I carry 330 setters anyways so be easier to set then a #9.

While we are on wolf trapping I was thinking of cutting a chunk of track and using it to camouflage where I set wolf trap on a snowmobile trail. maybe use it to sit on to set then flip it over to cover where the trap is set. that way it all looks like snowmobile tracks. Anyone try anything like that? We have been going weeks between snows the last couple years.

Just make yourself a pair of flip flop snowshoes out of a skidoo track.

Im assuming you joking Boco? I suppose that could work but it would take a lot of trail and error on foot placement. I saw a video where a guy just used a whisk broom. leveled off a bit of trail where he put his trap then use the handle to draw in the lug tracks. Not sure how good that would work with 1.5" lugs but I might try it this winter.
