I was told this is a FROST snare. Three bright minded trappers gathered and couldn't figure out how to set it... crazy
It is a small size, maybe for mink... Anybody have instructions or a pic of one in the set position....

just slide the cable on the 2 prong piece between the lock and the nut, the rest of it is a stake holder, like in the 1st pic

Much appreciated traphound...I tried it as you stated and we all were overthinking it. Figured it was a spring activated snare but all the spring does is hold the snare in place. And yes, the other parts are for a stake.

I have seen these Jack Frost snares in a 1952 catalog listed as muskrat snares. I have also seen them sell for around 25.00 at major conventions.
