After a year long delay we finally got to hunt Moose in Newfoundland. Left last Wednesday night at 8pm and drove to Nova Scotia to catch the ferry. We where at Portland Creek Outfitters on Friday afternoon to catch a float plane to camp. Luckily we got out before Ida hit the east coast of the island. We were on the Western side. Hunted Saturday afternoon in high winds and rook 2 bulls. On Monday I shot mine just before dard. Called in from a mile out. One shot at 300 yards with the 28 Nosler dropped him instantly. The last guy in our group got his bull Tuesday afternoon. We flew out Wednesday afternoon before we got stuck due to bad weather. Got home at 2am today. Newfoundland has lots of water fog wind and rough country. Was a great trip.
My bull was a 7 point with a 32 inch spread.

My son and two of his buddies left at 2:30 this afternoon for Newfoundland. Their parting comment was "mooses be toast". Looks like an awesome time. How many animals did you see altogether?

In 4 days we saw 30. Population is high due to last years shutdown. Also saw 4 Bear. 1 guy in our group hit one. Rough country.

Was it a hassle getting into Canada? Had one buddy go with his family a couple weeks ago and he said it was easy peasy. Another one said it was ridicules, waited 3 days for neg test couple guys in group got false pos so had to catch up later etc.......

We had our test and the arrivecan app. so crossing the border was easy. But going between providence's was a pain in the arse. And crossing back in the us is a pain. Treat you like a criminal. [Linked Image]

Moose backstraps tonight.

Congratulations on what sounds like a real good trip! I would love to have that good of a trip there. How many bulls were in that 30 moose spotted? Also, how much meat (pounds) do you think you got from your bull?

20 bulls around 250 pounds of meat. Had it butchered there. Only took them a few hours and was vacuum packed. Cost me 170 us. Fuel is high in Canada figured we spent around$1000 just in gas.. Saw a beauty of a 50 inch bull with 23 points at the main lodge. Trip of a life time even it was only 4 days in camp.

That moose meat looks great! Sounds like a real good trip.

Did the arriveca ap require you show proof of vaccine?

Got ya, thanks HR.

I’ve had moose meat a lot of ways but I actually think my favorite is cold moose meat sandwiches the day after a roast. Mayo, mustard and some onion. Something about it, can’t duplicate it with any other meat.

Congrats on a successful hunt, enjoy!

Make sure your arrivecan app is complete along with negative test. Make sure your gun is registered with us customs. And check on what paperwork or apps you need to go between providence's.

Funny how everyone is worried about getting into Canada, it’s always been for me a bigger hassle getting back into the USA.

It’s not really a registration form for your firearm on the USA side, but just proof that you did not purchase it in Canada so you do not have to pay duty on it. You fill out the form US Customs stamps it and you have the only copy. Make sure you have your Canadian firearms tax documents filled out and do not sign them until the Canadian customs office tells you to.

I knew about the test and arrive can app but I haven't heard anything about travelling between provinces. Do they have checkpoints set up? You now have me worried haha.
