Just wanted to show off. This is the second nice batch of traps we have picked up this summer at yard sales. How many of you yard sale? It is amazing the goodies you can find. Got all the items in the picture at one sale today. Hope everybody is doing good and getting ready for trapping season, it is just around the corner.

A lot depends on where you live. I've yard saled most of my life and have only found traps at yard sales 2 times.

You have to say how much you paid for everything. That tells how good of a find it was.

That is a nice haul!
I might be making a mistake, but I pass most of them by. When I do stop, I rarely find anything worth while.

I would venture to say its about 1 in 10 or more that are good. 1 in 100 for the big score (items worth 100+). Not bad when you hit up 20 a day I got an early Zippo for 5.00 that was worth 475.00 a couple weeks ago. You get a feel as you drive by whether it is any good or not. Being first in helps too.

What is the item on the far right? Cant make it out, is it a saw set?

you have very good eyes and must know your stuff. that is an old saw set , different from any we have seen before.

Very seldom do I find traps at rummage sales or yard sales. I am usually buying at auction or adds.

If we told you, you would head this way and be our competition at the sales, or you would say why did they pay that much for those traps.

agree with you 100%, lots of bad ones out there, but a good one makes you keep going. we stop even if it looks like all clothes , we stop and look and ask. got a lot of good stuff by asking at these sales that don't look like much. it is a job doing this 3 days a week, but it is fun. we are hoarders, our house if full of junk.

IF you find any traps at yard sales / estate sales here it will be 1 or 2 small long springs. One time I saw a pickup load of body grips at an estate sale but they were priced about what new ones would cost and I have no need for body grips

I have bought all kinds of stuff at garage sales though, including my daughter's first car.

I took a pile of traps to the NTA and tried tailgating. Made enough money to pay for my spot and was disappointed I spent my time trying to sell instead of walking around. I took the same traps to a local consignment auction and sold them for dang near double my asking price at NTA.

I pick up a few traps at yard sales. But very seldom anything user quality

I've scored some great deals in the past. Fishing poles, camping stuff, ammo, tools a few traps. I don't always stop at them unless they are on my way somewhere and I have the time to look.

Stopped at one a few years back, had a bunch of fishing gear gear displayed. Looked around on the tables and spied a rifle barrel peeking out from under a pile of old tools. Turned out to be a Winchester M1 carbine barrel and receiver, in great condition...asked how much, lady said 25 bucks, and "I think there's a 'handle' for it in the garage if you want to look for it." I gave her $50....
Needless to say, I spent an hour going through the garage until the original, Winchester marked stock was found. It now resides in my safe, the best deal I've ever found at a yard sale.

Ain't lot of trappers in St. Louis County! Most every time i go to Wally World buy my permit, the clerk gets a stupid look on it's face, (sic) and I have to explain it. LOL
