What do you mean "creates a gap"?

Jaw closure gap . Be fair Compare the Two
Belisle's trigger/dog design allows for full tight closure.

Don't give me the line you use about not setting the traps properly. Because, if you'd ever watch beavers at night with night vision, or binocs in the moon. Some old beavs do turn and slap traps with their Tail. And a reaching or slapping beaver there in the morning pays Gas bills. So Tight closing 330's for me

The flat sheet metal dogs do not seem to do as much fur damage as the old style dogs do. IMO

True, but no back fur damage with triggers set on bottom.

I guess you dont use the 2001 sauvageaus-the dog does not come in contact with the pelt,it is on the inner jaw not the outer (clamping jaw.) There is no gap-full closure trap with sustained clamping force.its also a 4 way trigger-another advantage over the cheaper made belisle.

I use belisles-they are a good trap but not on a par with the sauvageaus.I have some 2001 - 5's and the sauvageau 120 magnums The only reason I dont use their beaver traps because of the sticky crap they put on them.

Dont make assumptions about a trap you obviously have never used.

The 127 mark of the ops video clearly shows the dog on the non clamping jaw.
You are NOT making assumptions based on the ops pics.

Boco what are your thoughts on the LDL body grippers? Have used some for the last 20 years and killed a pile of beaver with them.

My preferred trap for marten.I also own a bunch of LDL beaver traps-great for under ice.
LDL traps are made right here in NE Ontario in Kapuskasing.
We tested the marten traps here on our traplines back in 89 - 90 for Guy when he was developing the b120 magnum.

The B120 magnum is made so that neither the dog nor the trigger ever hits the animal. They close tight like a sauvageau.

I know that the LDL springs retain their strength better than most other bodygrips.

The LDL 220 and 280 magnums are deadly traps also. The LDL 220(Non magnum) is the preferred under ice otter trap here in NE Ontario.

I've heard LDL are great but they put garbage stainless steel chain with no end to attach a stake or anything.
