I make my own beaver lure that’s good for cats and coyotes as well. I have mixed it in small batches when beaver trapping with a food odor like birch, poplar bud, linalool, clove or sassafras for a #2 lure. I know this is commonly done. Do most of ya’ll mix just the one or have you mixed in a faint two or three with the castor for a food type curiosity lure? I’m going to try nutmeg this year.

Multiple doors are fine as long as they add value to the finished lure. I am a firm believer to not just go in mixing things just to say I added multiple ingredients.

I like to stick with the basic castor, carrier and base then add different smells, only one to each basic formulation. For example a few drops of anis oil in one and some wintergreen in another-not both together. This gives me several change up lures on the basic.
If you mix a bunch into the basic you are limiting yourself for different change up lure smells that the animals find "new" or "different".

Forget that fear of gravity-get a little savagery in your life.

I am not a big beaver trapper, but I catch almost all the beaver I want to with a mix of castor and glycerine a pinch of poplar bud oil. IMO, beaver are easier to attract to a lure than muskrats.

Totally agree. grin

I should have been more clear, I am referencing trapping for fun, not ADC, when you have to get them all.
