Has anyone used one of those tinfoil roaster pans to do wax dirt?

you can......but wow on the time it would take to make if you had to do a bunch.......if you need more than 5 gallons....go to Harbor Freight, get a cement mixer, propane weed burner and a laser thermometer

I do mine in a turkey roaster 1 gallon at a time. Run two roasters at a time. Each batch takes about 30 minutes. I have made 70 gallons so far.

I use an old.crock pot and have made 25 gallons so far.while.tinkering in garage. It is easy and.not all that slow. Make sure dirt/sand is totally dry before you start waxing.

Wish I had more time to trap....

Thanks for the replies, i have the sand and wax I just am looking for a alternative for a container to heat. I’ve done the solar on a black tarp but apparently didn’t stir until cooked, it’s a35 gallon brick. I don’t need a lot just a pan of some kind to do small batches.

Old crockpot here, too. Got 30 gallons put up over a few weekends in garage while doing other stuff.

Money cannot buy you happiness, but it can buy you a trapping license and that's pretty close.

Has anyone ever tried making waxed sand/dirt by boiling it in a plastic bag? This would prevent it from scorching and holding scent.

If you have a brick it's because you overwaxed it

Wish I had more time to trap....

I use a turkey roasting pan on a propane burner. I heat the sand just to the point where it's hot enough to be uncomfortable wearing rubber gloves. I sift the sand to make sure it's evenly heated and then sprinkle flake wax on top. I sift the wax in until the sand turns dark and then let it cool and sift again to break up any clumps. It only takes a few minutes. I mix batches as I need them through the seaon. A little goes a long way.
