I like coffee , my wife lives by coffee

she tries buying all sorts of different beans roasted by different places then we make it a couple different ways.

well it took some time if it was up t me wwe would just keep buying the same 2 from the grocery store a dark french roast and an expresso roast , but with everything she likes vs dislikes have developed a pattern in all the ones she tries but dosent care for.

there is just no point in her buying anything but a dark shiny bean , she likes dark roast , the darker the better

sort of helped that decision along when I took her to this coffee place she wanted to try on her birthday. she loved the coffee. but in reading reviews on the place a lot of people told the owners they burned their coffee , the owners responded to the reviews with , no we like dark roast coffee it isn't for everyone but it is what we built out shop around if you don't like dark roast , you may not like our coffee.

not sure that you need to get the bitter ends if you filter better but if it makes you feel good go for it

That's when you thin it out with a snort of whisky and wack it down.

OK, I know nothing about coffee. I need my one 10 oz "cup" to start the day. After which, I'm not a bit interested.

But, back in the '80's I traveled to Venezuela a lot. The only coffee I ever came across in the hotels and restaurants came in tiny cups like a shot glass. It was extremely strong, but not in the least bitter. It took a little getting used to, but was enjoyable.

Anyone know anything about it, or what to look for here in the US?

Sounds like what my dad calls Cuban coffee they say they make it in very little coffee pots and boy is it strong he said the first time the lady at the Cuban restaurant gave him that for his coffee he said “I asked for a real cup of coffee until she got fed up and poured the entire pot into a cup and gave it to him he said he didn’t sleep for 2days” lol it’s a really funny story when he tells it. We used to live down in Florida where Cuban restaurants are kinda like Mexican restaurants but it’s all authentic Cuban food and it’s delicious

I've settled on Folgers Black Silk through a Keurig. We did grind some beans last night in my Grandparents old hand grinder and had some French press mud this morning. It was good.

When I come back to the cabin in the afternoon, and the coffee pot has been sitting on the woodstove for a few hours it is strong enough to curl hair never mind grow it.

the two I like from the store , Cameron's started in WI but is now in MN
good stuff and they put it on sale for 10.99 a bag normally 12.99 it is 1 3/4 pounds I think it used to be 2 pounds several years ago and they kept the price the same and dropped a 1/4 pound

even at normal price it is 7.42 a pound which is good for a good coffee

a bag lasts us right about 2 weeks now when the kids were home it was just over a week

my wife claims if you want to know if you like a coffee shops bean you order a plain latte it is expresso and milk steamed and nothing to hide the flavor.

I probably wouldn't go to many coffee shops I would just fill up the thermos , but she enjoys them and I like good bakery so I am not opposed to taking her.

I'm not particular as long as it's a dark or french roast, I'm good. I used to drink Folgers but finally discovered it was what was giving me terrible acid reflux. Not coffee in general... just Folgers brand. Quit drinking it and never have had reflux since.

The caffeine in the bean is bound to the water in the bean. As the bean is roasted and water leaves the bean, the caffeine goes with the water. So, the darker the roast, the less caffeine.

Coffee isn't hard to roast yourself. You can buy green beans online, and roast them to whatever level you like in a cast iron pan.

We buy "Obsidian" for $20 for two pounds ground from Caribou. Really a good coffee...dark and bold.

When we back packed Europe for 3 weeks I had some Algerian Coffee late in the evening at a Paris outdoor restaurant and did not sleep much that night! As my Norwegian grandmother stated "it does not take near as much water to make a good cup of coffee as most people think".
