To answer a question from above, yes, I have been to Haiti. I was a missionary there for two year. I became fluent in Haitian Creole, I lived with them, I ate their food, I used their transportation, I saw their struggles, I learned what their life goals were. Haitians, as a whole, are wonderful people. They want the same things that we do as Americans. They want to have food security, shelter security, they want clean water, they want to get an education, they want freedom from oppressive governments and gangs, they want to be treated and respected as human beings.As I read the above posts it made me want to distance myself from this group. The comments were myopic and show a complete disregard for the struggles that people, from all countries and economic situations have to endure. I was born and raised in this country. I didn’t have to struggle to get here, neither did my parents or grandparents. How can one expect a foreigner, that has fought their ENTIRE life just to survive, to come to this country and live the way we live? It must be nice to have not known the struggles that these people have known. I’m not excusing certain behaviors, but there should be a showing of compassion rather than contempt.

hope we don't wait too long to do something about it in this country.

There's a reason the resource rich African continent and nations like Haiti are so jacked up. There's a reason once thriving cities like Houston and Atlanta are on a rapid decline.

And, it's not colonization, slavery or anything to do with white people. I have zero interest in enabling or feeling sorry for them.

Put them on a raft so they can float back.
