Place an order with a trapping supply house and it went from Minnesota to Hawaii. Not sure which way they plan on going to get it to Pennsylvania.

It happens fairly commonly. I had a package within 120 miles once and it ended up in Kansas City before it turned around and headed back to Omaha, Sioux Falls, then back to me.

Life ain't supposed to be easy.

USPS shipping sucks.

I've had packages stuck in some remote location they never even should have gone to for a month or more. I've had packages come from across the country to within thirty miles then shipped hundreds of miles south before eventually getting back to me.

I've started multiple cases on the delayed/rerouted packages and was basically told, "It's probably on a truck somewhere but it's en route. Nothing more we can do, we are closing this case."

When I complained that they hadn't done anything at all I was told, "You can open another case tomorrow."

USPS shipping sucks.

Eh...wot?

How come people only post how bad USPS shipping is??? Because people like to complain!!!., it makes them feel good.

Why don’t people post about post office packages that arrive right on time. Or better yet, when they are delivered earlier than predicted. Would be nice to see that Just once.

The postnoffice handles millions of packages. Overall I think they are doing a great job.

Because they are an easy target. The same things happen with UPS and FedEx. If people only knew how many packages and letters get delivered that say Grandma....18th ave such and such city ( large city) no house address. Of course, nobody complains about that. The vast majority of those complaining about the USPS wouldn't last a month in the job .

How did it end up on a plane to Hawaii? The USPS doesn't have their own planes. Probably the same way your luggage gets screwed up. Complain to the the airline employees who handle and barcode pallets of packages.

Because I have yet to get one on the date posted. 2 to 3 day priority takes a week. Next time I will tell the supplier to ship usp and I will pay the difference. Had a next day priority take 3 days to get to a lab for testing.

I got 1 that happened today.

Sent a package to Bud in Galliano. This morning it was in New Orleans, 75 miles from Bud.

Just looked now to see if it made it there.

OF COURSE NOT!!!

The boneheads sent it to Shreveport, 350 miles west of where it was this morning. They say on its way to Bud. It was supposed to be delivered today, I doubt it'll make it.

And the USPS wonders why its losing money. All they have to do is look at themselves.

I sent a Priority Mail flat rate box from moscow, Idaho to Deer River, Minnesota. Shipped on Friday, September 17. Delivered at noon on Tuesday the 21st. Right on time.

I sent a Priority Mail flat rate box from Moscow, Idaho to bardstown, Kentucky. Shipped on September 4. Arrived on September 7. Right on time.

Would you like more examples.

I’m perfectly happy with the service I get from UPSP. I’ll take them most any day over UPS.

This thread is about the USPS. Not UPS which, for the most part, gets it right in my experience.

Had it been about UPS I would have posted that positive review.

The USPS sucks.

I will say that letters, bills, solicitations the USPS gets right for the most part. At $0.58 a pop they ought to.

Packages they suck at.

A lot of my feedbacks say, "fast shipping" . I always use the USPS.

The package I sent Bud was priority 2-3 days. Mailed on Monday. Today is day 4 and its not there yet. Maybe it'll get there tomorrow Day 5.

Who do you think delivers a huge portion of UPS packages? That's right. The USPS. I laugh every day they back up to the USPS dock to offload

There is no such thing as next day priority mail. You either send it priority or express. If you sent it express and it didn't arrive, get your money back, it's guaranteed.

You get free delivery bud. Doesn't cost you a penny unless you send something in the mail or pay the shipping cost of the person mailing you something. Mom sending you a birthday card doesn't cost you squat.

Now, if you can find another company that will ship your birthday card to mom across country for .58 cents....go for it.

Well maybe they shouldn't promote 2 to 3 day shipping if they can preform there job. And yes I got my money back on the next day shipping but it postponed the water test by a week. The issue isn't with the post office but with the sorting facility.

My bank sent me a Email that the post office service will be even slower so to plan ahead for mail in payments. Looks like they are adjusting their promises to meet their service.

My beef with them is they take no ownership in their promises and mistakes they choke on their own policies.

For everyone complaining about the post office - are you aware that starting October 3rd and through December 26, they are adding a peak season surcharge to every package.

75 cents per package on priority and Express. Something else for you to gripe about.

I think it may depend on where you live. Here, I have about a 50/50 chance of a USPS package getting here when they say it will. Most packages are only 1 or 2 days late, though. So if someone ships me something on a Monday, I'll likely get it on Friday. Usually about once a month though I will have a package be over a week late from the date it said it would be here. A few months ago Pete sent a package to Gritguy... it never got there at all. UPS though, for me, has always been here exactly on the day they say. Fedex is even more of a crap shoot than USPS. Either it gets here on time, or doesn't get here at all.

All my UPS packages come on a big, brown UPS truck, not a little white and blue USPS jeep.

Well thank you Captain Obvious for that useless piece of information. LOL

Do you work for the postal system? It seems like you have a lot invested in sticking up for them. Does this mean you're going postal on us?

They don't promote 2-3 day shipping. Just because it says priority doesn't mean 2-3 days. You can read into that any way you want .

I occasionally hate on the Post Office, however, recently they have been pretty good; at least a WHOLE LOT better than FEDEX. Don't even think about using FEDEX.
The last three things to come my way vie FEDEX (not my choice) took between 10 days and 4 weeks. Two from about 800 miles away, and one from the east coast.

They don't promote 2-3 day shipping. Just because it says priority doesn't mean 2-3 days. You can read into that any way you want .

You're right. They promote priority shipping as being ONE to three days, not TWO.

Wow anger issues much?

Who said anything about guarantee? You said they weren't promoting 2-3 day shipping and I proved you had no idea what you were talking about. Huge difference between promoting and guaranteeing. May I direct you to dictionary.com?

I use USPS for my products unless the customer states another they wish to use and then they have to pay the shipping, usually they change their mind quickly !!

Can count on one hand the problems I've had with them in 20 years now, must be where you live !!

My question is why does it have to say guaranteed? It says 1-3 day delivery. Does a gas station pump have to say $2.59 guaranteed or they can charge $3 and it’s ok ? Or you buy milk at the store and the price tag on the shelf says $2.49 but it rings up at $4 and that’s ok ?
What about going to get an oil change but they don’t actually change your oil. Does jiffy lubes sign say ,, oil change , guaranteed ?
They are advertising a service, and they choose to put the time frame on it. If it is an estimated timeframe it should say that. But it doesn’t. So they should be held to that standard.

We have Speedy Delivery in my area that covers several states I can ship a heavy foam cooler to WI and they get it the next day often. It’s getting tough to trust the USPO on perishable items they will not back their services and won’t even refund the Priority shipping fees. If they lose the package that would of been fine if delivered on time or the next day they just say it’s perishable and run you around filing claims.

They will sell you insurance no problem but then ask for receipts they did not want to see in the beginning that you might not even have ( Grandpas watch).

USPS, fedex and ups all mess up deliveries often.
I have checks being delivered via DHL so lets see how they are. Never had a delivery from them.

I had to replace my mailbox keys the post office surprisingly didn't charge me the $40 fee and instead of 2 weeks it was 3 days before I had keys

He's a update on Buds package.

It is now back to the same New Orleans hub it was 2 days ago. And considering what time it is now it'll sit there until Monday. Monday will be 1 week after I sent it 2-3 day priority.

Don't know. Amazon was able to get a package delivered to him on time. The Amazon package and our 2 were both supposed to be delivered Friday according to the tracking numbers. The Amazon one was, our 2 were not. Now their tracking numbers just show "In transit, arriving late".

Amazon rarely screws up, it happens but usually from a third party vendor.

Stuff shipped by Amazon almost always shows up on time in my experience.

I think the difference is private enterprise/capitalism vs. a bloated, mismanaged government bureaucracy. One has to be profitable or fail (good service and efficient deliveries), the other doesn't (lost a couple billion last year, no problem, here's some more tax money to keep you going).

In many areas, Amazon uses UPS or USPS to deliver their packages. Once the package leaves the Amazon warehouse, it is subject to the same delays and problems your packages and my packages are.

At one point last holiday season, postnoffice packages were delayed in some areas because there weren’t enough people to drive the semis used to haul mail from one hub to another. Loaded trailers sat in parking lots waiting for a drive.

It must be different in different parts of the country. The majority of my stuff from Amazon comes on an Amazon truck or small van.

I think it must have to do with population density. Probably more people in SEPA than in all of Idaho.

There are 2 big Amazon buildings 90 miles north of me and packages still come UPS or postnoffice.

I think USPS must give Amazon packages priority over regular packages, as those are the only ones that seem to regularly get here as scheduled.

I hear shipping rates are escalating, starting Oct 1 up as much as $5.00/ package and extended delivery times for 1st class mail.

Nope, goes through the same machines at the same time as other stuff.

I've been shipping USPS for years now. Yes I have had issues, but the majority of stuff arrives mostly on time or close. The exception is Mi, seems everything shipped to me from Mi takes weeks. I ordered some wine supplies, yep three week, that's not what I consider priority mailing. Had a customer send a check in a priority envelope, took five weeks to show up! Those kind of things leave a bad taste in your mouth. I could have walked there and back in that length of time. I crate and package my stuff to keep the damage down, and before that I did that, I collected on insurance a couple times. It is a nuisance, to go to that much effort to package, but will continue, as fighting with them for the insurance is worse!

Did yours ever get there? Ours are still MIA. Been 7 days as of today.

Yes it got there on Monday. MIA or KIA?

I've had things I sent and things sent to me that disappeared in the mail and were never found!

No idea. Just says "In Transit, Arriving Late."

Funny thing is when this thread started I hadn't mailed them yet and everyone was saying how great USPS was. I thought we'll see how they do this time. So, I guess now we know how great they are. Two large flat rate boxes... just poof into thin air.

The not so funny thing is Bud could have really used that stuff!!

If the shipment was diverted to a inspection location, it may never be seen or heard of again. I know first had. I had a $1500 shipment disappear to never be heard of again. I was friends with the postmaster in town and he tried to find it and couldn't. He said they may have suspected something illegal.

You could try. Never tried that before. You might just get the runaround too.

I’ve open cases on missing items already. It’s pretty much an exercise in futility. They will wait about 24 hours, call you back and tell you that they couldn’t find anything out and we’re going to close the case. If you complain they will tell you that you can open another case the next day…

Eh...wot?

On the news at 6pm USPS will be slowing down shipping even more to save money. Less mail moved by air more by truck. They say 1st class could take a week to go across country.

Doesn't it already??
