I'm just happy to be here! Today I'm as young as I'll ever be and and older than I've ever been before!

congrats but if you let you infant tag your buck it does look a little suspicious in mentored hunting , you have to wait till they are at least 4
just kidding with you
congratulations
but you know some guy was going to do it , 5 dollar extra tag because the kid was a first time hunter.

but you know some guy was going to do it , 5 dollar extra tag because the kid was a first time hunter. Haha. We are allowed 2 bucks and 10 does per licensed hunter in Georgia. We generally kill one buck each. As of right now, I don’t have a buck worth shooting, so I may not even shoot one this year. We will however fill ALL our doe tags for management purposes. We (all who hunt the property) take between 80-100 does. On another property we try and take a minimum of 40. What’s so bad is we still have folks wanting deer at the end of season, lol. Nothing goes to waste. We can’t sell wild meat in Georgia but nothing in the regs state you can’t barter for vegetables, lol. You drop off a load of corn, peas, and beans; and I’ll drop off several deer. And before folks misunderstand the taking of so many deer, it’s done in sections on each property. One section may only need 10-15 does removed. Another section may need 30+. It’s been working for umpteen years so we aren’t over harvesting…it’s management.

Wow, I wish we could have a bunch more tags here in ND like you can! I drive 36 miles to work every morning, and know that there are more than a few small areas there that hold WAY too many deer. Would be nice to thin that herd down quite a bit - lots of deer burger on the highway, all times of the year.

It's good you sound like you have a good management plan it's a joke around here since mentored hunting started . just imagine a meme with a proud looking dad holding a toddler and a rifle over a buck , baby girl got her fist buck as the caption we get 1 buck tag and depending on county may get 0-5 doe tags with 1-2 being common
