I didn't care for the ones I had. I didn't have any 220s though just 280 and 330.

There was a compelling reason to not use the RBG’s a while back, on the Wilderness Trapping Forum I recall. The gripe was that the spring eyes ended up in the delicate leather and fur on ermine and marten when the trap was fired. Those would have obviously been the smaller ones. I would like to hear more on the larger RBG’s.

I only have the little 2.5 inch one and it does not get used for reason. Thing bigger ones may be good but the same ones are no good.

Disregard this person's comment since they can't give a reason

I use the 280's a lot, in Indiana we can have 7.5" square out of the water and 8" round. The 280's are 8" and they have the same springs as the 330's so they are strong and very good for trail sets for otter and anything else. I have some of the 14" round for beaver. Great traps, made in Indiana and Nick the owner of the company is a great guy. They are different because the springs open farther because of the lack of corners to stop them so use a good set of setters and they are easy when you get used to them.

I saw several go out the door at our state meet this weekend. I too, am a fan of the 280’s.

I've only used the 160 size and they outperformed the square BGs. They just blended Into a trail better then the square ones.

A follow up to explain. I believe in the case of the tiny ones its a case of downsizing beyond the capability of materials. The rod used for the jaws appears to be the same as on larger models, 1/4" rod. As such it really presents a small opening and negatively impacts the function of the trigger and closure. I get refusals and push asides with this one.
JMO if redesigned to use lighter wire it may wore better.

That is a good point. I agree. I have 1 of these and it might be beneficial if it wasn't so heavy duty.

I wonder if it would work for pocket gophers, 330 Belisle.

Because of what Warrior said they do not work well for Pocket gopher. The small ones are to heavy and use the same trigger and dog as a 110 square trap. Trigger for gopher needs to be a hair trigger. RBGs do not have that.

We have one out for Moles right now and it was fired today but the dirt was in the way. So I'm gonna build something for it.
