Hmmm... I think learning a little about a lot is valuable, even if some things don't seem useful to the student at the time. When they're older they can choose what topics to go deeper into. But do I think there's some stuff taught that could be replaced by more valuable life skills or real world knowledge? Definitely.

Look at school this way. School doesn't teach you the answers to the problems, it teaches you how to find the answers to the problems. As well as build a foundation of knowledge to go off of along the way

yes -- unless you want to become a liberal then everything applies wonderfully. There is some good info provided there. In my case I was bored to death -- learning all you can learn is not a bad thing - should be a goal to learn something new every day. The day I stop learning will be the day they close the casket. That being said -- sometimes you just have to "go through the motions" so that you can graduate.

Not sure what you mean by pointless.
Think everything I learned in school has come into play at one time or another. Even French helped me once or twice, lol.
What I’ve noticed with today’s youth is they don’t read anymore. I learned so much from reading. I can tell you life lessons I learned and applied just reading Louis L’Amour books, read every book he’s ever written.

I believe L"Amour said he never let school get in the way of his education. That guy led a heck of a life, he was the real deal. I have all of his books and have read them all several times.

From the stories I’ve read on the news the last few months I’d say yes if I lived in the city. I can’t believe the crap in those schools! Out here it isn’t that much different than when I was in school. The 3 R’s are still being taught. Mask less by the way

I have no problem with the core subjects. I have a problem with teachers on subjects like gun control, hunting and trapping. I was trapping chipmunks to feed by Hawk, and my grandson let one go. I ask my grandson why and he said it was not nice to kill animals. I ask him who told him that and he said his teacher. Keep to the subjects at hand IMO.

School is meant to teach you to be quiet, sit down and listen. These skills are essential to maintain the next generation of middle class tax cattle.

Who among us graduated from high school and/or college, and now wished they hadn’t?

Who retired from the military, and wished they had never joined?

Who retired early, and now wishes they were back at their first job?

Who has group health insurance, paid by their employer, and turned it down? Same for employer funded retirement plan.

Nothing wrong with a good education. Either academic or trade. America doesn’t need anymore unskilled workers. School is not a waste of time. The world is not going backward.

Wife has a nephew who had such a smoking habit he could not sit in class. Dropped out in 10th grade. No skills. Never had a job for more than a year. Longest time he ever worked was in a prison kitchen.
