Yeah many hmong here in Eau Claire too. Never had a problem with any of them. The Boy has several real good friends that are Hmong and I work with many. One is a trapper and most hunt and fish as much as I do. Other than looking non European they are no different in our community.
The Somalian's I know from working in Barron for Hormel Turkey Store many years ago were new and not integrated at all and most haven't tried to assimilate as far as I can tell when I visit up north today.
Hopefully the Afghans can integrate like the many foreign refugees have but I believe its more likely that elections can be swung in these medium sized communities and that is the plan. If any conservatives in the Wausau area wanted to start an ESL school (English as a Second Language) it might just throw a wrench in the plans of the ruling elites.

Let me think about this. The Afghans which were allowed to get through the check points and onto the planes headed for here were selected by armed Taliban. You don't think that they selected fellow Taliban to get through and on the planes do you?

If you dressed up many North Africans and Middle Easterners like Americans and trimmed their hair, you could not tell them from an "average, white American" by appearance.

You can dislike people who are the same race as you. You can like people, who are of different races too.

I don't think we should let people from crappy cultures like Afghans and Haitians immigrate to the US, unless they are very well vetted and capable of fitting in, but their race doesn't really matter, it's their abilities, work ethic and other beliefs that matter. I believe we should be very selective of who we let in the US. There are admittedly more crappy people in non Caucasian countries.

We have a sizable Hmong population in both Manitowoc and Sheboygan WI. Settling in and adjusting has not always been easy or smooth. Hmong do not work on dairies like the Hispanics do so they are not a big part of our rural economy. Several have bought or leased small parcels as the do a lot of gardening and they also work with farmers in buying and processing on the farms. There is a Hmong Viet Nam Memorial in Sheboygan. There were a couple clan leaders that settled in these communities and several others followed.
I don't know how well the Afghans will simulate in to the communities. They will have limitations and traditions just as all other immigrants bring to the table. I hope they adjust well, we can use family oriented working people in our culture. My sister lives in a suburb of St Paul and taught ESL in the Twin Cities public schools to mostly Hmong for over 30 years. Her and her husband adopted a teenage girl from a Cambodian refugee camp and raised her and now are helping out her daughter as the parents have had some issues living out east and in Canada.

I see on the news they sent 100 to Anchorage. That really means 1000 or more. Alaska is still red except for Dirt and James. That's about to change when they fly rest here.

They analyze the voter #'s and send them to where they need a larger # of dem voters, pretty simple policy that has been going on for a while now only it has accelerated #'s with the current admin.

I think the democrats belief in blind obedience of minority voters and immigrants is going to destroy them if we get fair elections again.

Many successful minorities vote Republican. They want to keep the money they work hard and smart for. They don't like being patronized by the democrats.

Muslims are mostly conservative, not progressive. Muslims are mostly anti-abortion at any stage, unless the life of the mother is threatened. Late term abortions, after 120 days of gestation, are strictly forbidden. Muslims do not like the LGBT&QS that make up a very vocal and flagrant portion of the democrat party.

A lot of immigrants have seen the failure of socialism and communism firsthand and want to escape the suffering that goes with them.

If we conservatives choose to accept minorities and Muslim voters, who share many of our core beliefs, we have a much better chance of winning in a fair election, than if we alienate them.
