I am on my cell phone but can not see any tracks or droppings to help me decide what and how

Just my preference, would be to move the skull in front of a shorter backing. And placing the lure under one side of the skull on a q-tip. And off set a trap from the lure nine inches back. You could still set a blind set on the other side of the skull if they work it from the backing side. Why move it ?

The kiss system. Don't over think it. Flat set with urine (the real stuff or your wasting ur time)and droppings if there's a natural trail that will guide them and some form of dirt hole in bare ground were you don't have to waste time blending in a trap bed. I wouldn't even set the skull unless it was right on the trail. That's my thought if it's coyotes your targeting. My opinion the type of set is less important than the micro location u chose and how attractive the lure or bait u use. In my area I've tried large bones or skulls many times and they don't work for me especially if I bring them into the area myself.

I wouldn't even set the skull unless it was right on the trail. Ok but again I must ask why this is ? The skull is only a few feet away from the trail. Why would it have to be moved or in the trail for it to work ? To me it seems to be more like a stump or something at this point because it's been here a few years now I think ( shot this horse a while ago ). I'm not trying to be a smart allack I'm just legit curious. Should have mentioned hunters and random four-wheeler Rider mess on this two tack randomly so setting in trail has me kinda cautious. Only reason I thought of the blind set in the wash is because it's just easier for somone to drive around it

I'd set the skull. I like setting skulls, lol. I'd probably only use one trap though, and stake the skull down or else they'll pack it off, lol.

It will be the lure or bait you add that has the attraction and there's better micro locations for a set from what little I can tell from the pic. If the skull doesn't add attraction why make coyotes walk the couple of feet to it when you can set right were they walk. The atv riders are something to consider if they are there more than once a week if not set best location and take the risk.

Its hard to say without being able to look around. Put me in the camp of set where they are already going. If they are peeing on a grass clump by the skull or on the skull, and you move it, it will spook coyotes. At the top of the picture is a spot where the terrain rises a bit and as natural a place to hide a snare as any . Its a picture though. Hard to see sign and fine tune. If coyotes are peeing by that skull catching them going to it right on the two track seems best. Don’t change anything at the attraction

Trapper Dahlgren do you really drive around every once in a while spraying urine on stuff? What if you drive 800 miles to trap somewhere with high dollar cats and there are also coyotes and fox? Do you still try to get them to come to you or do you just go to them?
