I'm going to ship some muskrat pelts off to Moyle's to get tanned. One of them was trapped by a nephew of mine, and I'd like to somehow mark it separately from the others so we know that he's getting his back, and it's been kept separate from the other furs in the small shipment. What's the best way of going about this?

Best way is to code it with a needle with his name , space the needle holes about a 1/8 inch apart down at the base of the tail area up about an inch or so

Put a small zip tie through the eye or though a hole in the tail area.

Punching with a needle or pushpins is a good idea. Doesn’t have to be the full name. Initials will do.

You might want to stay away from the tail area, IF a tannery is going to punch hides, that is usually where they punch. Moyle tends to use zip ties but not always.

Most important!! Remember (write down) what you punched and where. 6 months from now, when you are looking for the punch, it might be hard to find since the pelt will be slightly smaller and the leather tightened up.
