On the other hand, with more Russian natural gas money, maybe coon averages will rise to $3 or something....

you can vote your way into socialism, but you will have to shoot your way out.

“Russia is not running out of gas and its prolific gas reserves allow Russia to meet much higher overall demand, but this requires time, money, and contractual assurances of offtake,” said OIES Senior Research Fellow Vitaly Yermakov.

Some analysts have argued that Russia has capped flows to Europe as a way to get its controversial Nord Stream 2 pipeline to Germany online. Flows through the link could improve supplies, but the start of commercial operations will depend on regulatory certification — first in Germany, then at the European Commission. That could run well into next year. US sanctions have also created challenges for the project.

The IEA stressed that it’s wrong to blame the shift away from fossil fuels for the surge in gas prices. The comments came a week after Frans Timmermans, the EU’s climate chief, warned that the record spike in energy prices must not undermine the European Union’s resolve to cut emissions.

“Recent increases in global natural gas prices are the result of multiple factors, and it is inaccurate and misleading to lay the responsibility at the door of the clean energy transition,” said IEA Executive Director Fatih Birol."

Dirt, c’mon man, surely you recognize political propaganda when you post it. Right? Anyone who is any kind of “climate” czar/king/executive director/spokesman etc is already loaded to the gills with BS narrative meant to shift the blame for their misdeeds onto others. All of these people are political animals, and every single thing they do and say is meant to move the socialism ball further down the field. I have to give them credit, they never miss a beat or an opportunity to lie big and promote their agenda. Which just happens to be against everything you live, breathe, eat, drive, trap and read.

Are the renewable energy people nuts? Oh Yeah! However Russia supplies the gas not the wind farms or the solar panels. Heck if green energy was lowering demand for gas then prices would be getting lower. I don't believe Russia is pushing green energy. Europe may be dependant on Russia because they don't develope their own gas reserves, but they still may not be competitive with a Russian supply?

While energy security remains a core mission, the IEA today is at the center of the global energy debate, focusing on a wide variety of issues, ranging from electricity security to investments, climate change and air pollution, energy access and efficiency, and much more."

"While energy security remains a core mission, the IEA has evolved over the years, adapting to the transformation of the global energy system. There are some issues with some of the major African nations production so that is an impactor as well. Russia and the Soviets (OPEC included) have the US fracking oil at bay, but with prices climbing if they turn the knobs they can increase production and keep the fracked oil out of the equation. Sure we are a major producer but we can't produce enough at lower costs to stop others from really having a lot of control over price and that slows production here and thus our economy etc.
Oil reserves don't mean a lot if you can't afford to take it. We also have had extremely limited refinery expansion and modernizing. Probably won't be a big commitment there either if there are big pushes for other energy sources.

As the IEA kind of admits, they are yet one more institution captured by the Left and bent to promoting the left's anti-capitalism, anti-Western agenda. So whatever the IEA now says, I would be skeptical.

Our propane company a few months ago, offered its customers to be able to lock in their per gallon price with a pre-payment. My wife prepaid $2,000 locking in the price at $1.79 a gallon. It's already gone up nearly $1.00 a gallon.
