In the sand with my ,9 year old while my 11 year old is a few hundred yards up the hill and I heard an odd noise. My 9 year olds description said it sounded like someone screaming. I kind of agree but the tone was off almost has some hiss sound to it. Bobcats are around but big cats are very very rare but have been seen on DNR trail cams.
Dose a bobcat make a similar sound? I have never heard a mountain lion but I think I was not loud enough for that but may be wrong. Sounded about 100 yards or so away but not 100% sure on that because it was unexpected and my hearing is bad.

Bobcats can make a lot of noise when breeding. Its to early for that. House cats scream and squall too. All year round.

Wasn't a red fox was it? We hear them scream a lot here. It's one of their most used vocalizations. Did the critter repeat the scream?
Eh...wot?

It sounds like you are having a great time down there. A trip you won’t soon forget.
Looks like he needs another year;-)

Heard a scream in dark out side fee days back put my shoes on went out. Next door neighbors already out with light looking around. I was thinking house cat maybe fox. Turns out was Barn owls. I didn't know owls scream like that. Guess barn owls only scream don't hoot? And barred owl will scream and hoot.

I don't think I have ever heard a bobcat "scream", I'm sure they probably do. I have heard a fox make a "screaming" (kind of) sound Couple of years ago I would hear something making a screech/scream sound when I was walking to my stand. I knew it was some kind of bird bit took me weeks to figure it out. I only figured it out because it flew up in a nearby tree a little before light and I could skylight it. Juvenile Great Horned owl. There are all kinds of critters that make all kinds of noises that we would not suspect came from the animal making it. A coon fight would scare most city folks out of their wits
