Don't know what is going on with this Top Load Speed queen washing machine, Put the laundry in the washing machine and started it up. A few minutes later, I hear water leaking out of the washing machine. I get to the washer, and the floor was soaked!! Water coming out of the top of the machine ! I turned off the washer, and cleaned the floor up. Then rung out all the wet clothes in the washing machine. I turned it back on after plugging it back in, and let it drain. Then I started checking things out.
When I plugged it back in and started the machine , I noticed that when I would open the lid, the washing machine would not stop filling up. I also noticed that when the washer started washing the clothes, that the water was still pouring into the machine. Put it on spin and drained the water again. After it was drained out , I unplugged the washing machine, and opened the shut off valve that controls the hot and cold water. When I opened that up like it would normally on for the washer to fill up with water, the water come pouring through that shut off valve.
Now , the questions.
is the whole problem in that shut off valve, or is it the washing machine ??

My top loader wouldn't stop filling up when you opened the lid. Actually the only time it would stop was during the spin cycle. You could open it up while it was agitating and it wouldn't stop,
Your problem definitely sounds like an issue with your machine. Sounds like a relay or something isn't sending the signal for the water to stop when it should.
If it was a valve causing the problem it wouldn't shut off until you closed a valve outside the machine manually.

if the water is pouring into the machine with the power off , valve is stuck open start with replacing valve
the water is supposed to stop when the lid opens my speed queen does
bad valve , or control for valve but with no power that valve should close under spring pressure or it would flood every time the power went out
if you turn off the water then turn the dial through the cycles will it drain for you and spin ?

If its old, blow it up with some tannerite and get a new one. It could flood your house when your gone and cause tens of thousands of dollars in damage.

Oh, it will drain and run through the cycles good. But, I noticed when it stopped spinning, it made a squealing sound like brakes do, when thy get worn down. Now, this machine is just a few weeks from being 2 years old. As I read the manual, it's got a 3 year Warranty. But, within a Month after first getting it in 2019, it was nonstop squeaking noises from the inside of the Washer. That eventually got fixed. Now , the push button electronic keyboard on the Washer is getting fidgety. Like it wants to work, but sometimes it hesitates to get going.

ROUND 2..............
Got the Washing machine fixed, or so I thought. Repairman came out and replaced the inlet valve or whatever that part is called that the hot and cold water hoses connect to. Started it up , and no leaks . Then I threw in a half load of laundry. Turned the Wash on Cold water only wash, and the machine started filling up A few minutes later I touched the lid on the Washer, and noticed it was super hot !! I checked the water lines , and the Hot water hose is hooked up to the Hot water pipe , and the cold water hose is hooked up to the cold water pipe. So, I let that run through it's complete wash cycle. After that load was done, I hauled out the washed clothes , and turned the water to HOT. Started the Washing machine back up with it empty ; to see if the cold and hot hoses were connected wrong at the Washing Machine. This time, the water was warm. Can't be the Hot water Tank . I got enough hot water to run 3 loads at Hot .
So, what could be wrong this time ? If the hoses were just mistakenly connected wrong, then Hot would spit out cold and vice versa. But, Hot is coming out warm. Is it a faulty part the repairman put in ?

i'd get a new one, messing around trying to fix that one could cost way more than a warshing machine.
