I have three black bear hides for sale, just wondering if anyone knows a fur buyer close to me or a taxidermist who's interested in them. I need to make room in a chest freezer for deer meat. Either in central Minnesota where I can take them or someone who's willing to come and get them.

Bernie put the word out to taxidermists more towards the center of the country, bears not as common. They will rug them and resell to touristy shops/locations.
Unwanted hides here go south.

Not related to Bear but I was at a local fur buyers and he said he has cow hides he bought and can't sell.

Interested to hear what you find out. Years ago Sunrud bought some bears in Foston. He’s since retired. Taxidermy.net is a tough sell on green hides. Salted or better yet tanned hides move easier but shipping is a killer, especially with a green hide.

Colt Furs wasn’t interested in buying bear hides last year. Too much work in fleshing and tanning cost to turn a dollar. Lucky to get $30 offer even with claws attached. I ended up throwing out last years hide. Hated doing that. Got this years hide in the freezer trying to decide what to do with it.

I sent Bernie a message yesterday, but I have a friend in the Walker, MN area that deals with Bear hides, skulls, claws, or any type of antler. He is as good as they come to deal with.

You might be able to get the bear hides tanned and sell them for a lot more. I've seen bear hides, from pretty small black bears, for sale for $450.00 to $800.00 each at historical reenactments, SCA events and Renaissance fairs. I saw a small brown bear hide for sale for $1200.00 once.

Bearskins are like wolfskins.
The ones that are nice and worth skinning for taxi bring good money at the auction.
Lots are poor quality,unprime,and/or not skinned and dried properly-those should not be shipped.Near worthless.
Likely most people who hunt or trap bear have no clue what value of skin they are working with.

Do you know if Moscow buys grizzly and polar bear hides? Marine Mammal Protection Act probably keep polars out but grizzly they might be interested in? You Americans sure have a lot of hippy laws down there.

Shipping wildlife across borders,especially cites animals is over regulated and restrictive in my opinion.
Even need an export permit to ship out of province(Ontario).
