I have the National Audubon Society mushroom field guide.

But, there are a bunch of really good mushroom ID groups on Facebook.

Field guide by Smith is a good one for the mid-west, although somewhat dated. Tall narrow hardback. Libraries should have it.

I like my Audubon Guide for mushrooms, nice clear pictures, tell you how to do a spore print, edibility , range etc.

The Audubon guide and David fishers edible wild mushrooms of North America are two of the best. Even with those there is nothing that gives full confidence like finding with an experienced person. There are a few mycology clubs around. Go on a few outings with them. You will learn ten times more with hands on experience. Identification from a book will be much easier after watching the pro’s process in person.

Fischer's book is excellent. His website is great..WARNING pop-ups galore. Lol. I also agree about going with someone who knows their stuff
