It's a 77, 87, 92, 94, 95, 96, 97 automobile.....
I've been collecting a bunch of junkyard finds for some upgrades lately, and just got em all installed. It's big mismash of stuff, but it's all Ford. The truck is a 77, f150, the engine and trans is a 5.0 and AOD out of an 87 Mercury. I finally got rid of the original gas tank. I was using an aftermarket frame mounted fuel pump, but it would t pick up fuel below a half tank. Not exactly convenient. So I grabbed a rear tank out of a 95 f150, and extended my fuel lines, now I have a factory fuel system setup. Of course, the new sender does t play nice with my fuel gauge, so I grabbed a fuel gauge out of. 92 f150 that I need to install.
The original rear axle was a Dana 44 with 2.73 gears and an open diff. Pretty pathetic setup. It constantly hunted between 3rd and OD at 70mph, and had no oomph. It didn't so much acceleratr as it just made forward progress. So, I grabbed a 8.8 axle with a rear sway bar and 3.55 gears out of a 94 bronco. The axle had an open diff, so I grabbed a trac-loc diff out of a 96 explorer, and swapped the ring gear over. The gear pattern was still perfect, so no adjustments there. And, the rear sway bar bolts right into my truck. I also grabbed the front sway bar off the 94 bronco, again it bolts right in.

Finally, I grabbed a GT40 intake and throttle body off of a 97 explorer. This is a significant upgrade from my super restrictive intake. My old throttle body was 50mm, the new one is 65mm....huge difference.

I finally got it all up and running yesterday, seems good so far. I just need to put the hood back on now. After my last oil change, my hood latch decided it didn't want to work anymore, and the hood flew up at 60 mph. Fun stuff. It broke the hinges, but the hood is fine. So I've got new hinges on, and I've got some good pins to put on too to make sure it'll never happen again.
Should make for a much improved ride for trapping. Last season I was still running a 2 barrel carb, c4 trans, and points ignition. It worked, but this'll be. Night and day difference.

Half Ford truck , half farm animal. Been there , done that. The real fun is when you need parts , you have to remember which parts were grafted off of what and get replacement stuff that match the ones you installed.

Years ago I had a 1st gen Plymouth Valiant drag car. It had Dodge truck brakes and a bunch of other Mopar related parts. Had to remember where they all came from to get things like brake shoes.

The real fun was the Mercury radiator and water pump that was grafted onto the Mopar 340CID under the hood. Had to get real creative back then , just couldn't just buy racey go fast parts , had to kinda make your own.

Good job , loosegoose grin

I'll get it one piece at a time, and it won't cost me a dime, you'll know it's me when I come through your town.

good thing that only the VIN number and color matter for the registration and title

America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

Looks like you're pretty handy with a wrench.

I once had a '47 Mercury coupe. Engine was a '53 Cadillac
  • bored out for '56 pistons
  • Sorry, forgot the crank and rods, probably '56
  • '58 dual quad manifold and carbs.
