Digging around in old photos for up coming grade school class reunion. Found this photo of my older brother and myself with two spike bucks.
My claim to Fame with this small buck being first legal buck shot in WI with handgun. I believe it was 1982 handguns we're first legal to hunt deer with. My brother gotten cold walked over to BS with me eat lunch. The two spikes came trotting up. So I shot one with handgun he shot one with my 06. Anyway after season was over DNR reported only two deer registered shot with handgun. One buck one doe. So that made my deer first buck shot with handgun.
I'm also the handsome young buck on the right in photo. Older brother on left was one my best hunting partners before cancer took him few years back.

Very cool old photo and memory.

I'm just happy to be here! Today I'm as young as I'll ever be and and older than I've ever been before!

I did not recognize your younger self. Good thing men age like fine wine. laugh

Pretty cool you got the first registered handgun buck.

Used my dad's colt 357 lawman which was his service gun. He was what the full time sheriff's deputies liked to call a hobby cop stealing their over time. Work as a special which was just part time. Anyway gun was just long enough because revolvers barrel length is measured from back of cylinder. I only owed a 38 and 22 handgun which weren't considered powerful enough.
My father even left the gun to me when died because I had shot that deer with it. So I still carry it deer hunting every season.
Actually have pretty funny story about last buck I shot with that handgun. But is way to long to type here. Camp fire stuff lol

Back in the late 70’s early 80’s down here, just seeing a deer in certain counties was an accomplishment.
