Here are two whole hide tobacco pouches. These were commonly carried by Natives and Euro descent men on the fur trade. They would carry their pipes, tobacco and Firestarter equipment in them. They wore them draped over a belt or sash. Coomon skins included small otter, Mink, marten and skunk.

They are not that tough to make at all.
To do it right, they should be skinned through a slit from the neck to the chest, where the red ribbon is. This leaves the bag portion, without having to stitch it shut. Oftentimes the skull was left attached at the nose to give shape to the head.
