Wolf your cooking skills are clearly way beyond Ramen and Ramen isn't even a cheap carb when you compare it to bulk rice or a pound of dry noodles.

rant over

Hacking as it relates to computer was never a bad term until the media corrupted it. Cracking was the term used for illegal access to computers. Hacking was diving down inside a computer to make it better.

Big difference between real ramen noodles and the "heart attacks in a bag" stuff we have here. If you ever go to a real Japanese ramen restaurant you'll see the difference.

The difference is the broth and other ingredients. The stuff most of us are familiar with just have what is basically powdered bullion cubes. Though I think the stuff we get the noodles are fried before packaging. The noodles themselves are just wheat noodles.

We eat the same noodles in the packs in asia,,occasionally we add something else. Most noodles in Asia are rice noodles, rice is a must have in Asia. Thus the ultra high diabetes levels. Wheat in asia is known as mien,,hard to come by in asia.

To the chicken ramen, I like to add chunks of cooked chicken with chopped green onions and bell peppers. For the beef ramen, We will add some sliced deer/beef loin or roast deer/beef, basil, cherry tomato halves, and onions.

Just an FYI: talking about the "big house," Very few inmates actually use any or all of the season packet. They often steal stuff from food service and make their own seasonings and additions (the stuff they can't get on commissary). Common to see bell peppers, tomatoes, onions, chicken, fish, roast beast, & anything else they can lift. As for cooking it, at least in the Feds, they are provided with community hot water faucets, and industrial microwaves in the common areas of the units. Some state facilities allow vics to purchase hot pots. The real crafty ones make "stingers" for cooking food and brewing hooch.

GreenCounty Pete..... you forgot the great Johnny Cash lyric, "... you're the dirty hack that shot your woman down..."

West River.... Sorry, but how food looks on the plate does matter. Same as how a gal is dressed or if a gun is cleaned before you buy it. JMO.

Ramen noodles are great and easy when you're hungry, but they have about zero nutritional value compared to regular pasta. That said, I like mine cooked with some frozen peas and an egg thrown in at the last minute then all stirred up. Too much salt and MSG in the seasoning packet so I just put on some chili sauce.

Pete

yeah well I just can't hack the noodles any more I think it was apples making my numbers too high and I was trying to only eat one.

I keep getting the feeling I wasn't built for this century , body runs to "efficiently" if you eat the cereal grains you also need to be pushing a cart 50km a day of following a mule all day plowing or out howing corn all day or something where you work it off.

shame the American heart association has been pushing cereal grains for so long , but it keeps them in business I guess.

America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

Depending on the institution you can have a hot pot in your cell, cafeteria or day room will have microwaves. Some just let the noodles soak to soften and then eat them cold.

These Roman noodles are something I've never eaten. My wife makes them for herself I think ( orange package and stinks when she boils them?) So some day I'm gonna have to try them.

You're not really missing anything. Just a simple cheap ($0.15) meal with simple flavor and easy to add fixings.

Redneck Pad Thai...
Boil ramen. Add seasoning packet. Add crushed red pepper. Add big scoop of peanut butter and a raw egg, then stir it all up.
