Most of my summer besides trapping Pepe’s, working cattle, getting called into work for transports has been filling the carp freezers the wife caught well over 300 this summer.

Rebuilt the East end of the house cheap windows sweating ruined the siding and the studs around them put in new studs and 4 new windows tossed up barrier paper while I had it apart.

Had a slab doing nothing behind my garage, built a pergola from old power poles and a crude chainsaw mill, built the canopy from a installing grommets on a painters drop cloth, and built a block wall concrete planter covered with stone veneer and poured a 2” thick cap for the top, nice hang out area!

I enjoy building horsepower. Here's the line for this winter to get done before next racing season starts.
The one on the floor I just finished for a customer, a 434ci Chevy for in a super latemodel at over 800hp.

There's a couple aluminum Mopars that are mine, a 438ci and a 410ci. The cast iron block is a 350 Chevy I'm building for the limited latemodel class, which I'll sell. It should dyno at 625-650hp.

I also like to build oil pans.

Sometimes it's not the complicated or artistic projects but what your handiwork means to someone.

One of our members of the firehouses' elderly mother visits regularly and contributes her time to help out quite a bit and is respected for her efforts.

There is a small set of 3 concrete steps from the engine bay to the meeting room. She slipped and fell one day coming into the firehouse. Not good for someone of advanced age.

I found an old handrail that someone was giving away. I sanded it down and refinished it. Cut it down to fit the small set of steps. Secured it to the wall directly to the studs with very long screws so it is in the wall SOLID. It does not budge at all. You easily put all your weight into it and then some. Perfect for a safe thing to throw all your weight into instead of landing on the concrete steps. This was installed ironically on Mother's day. I told Carol that I did this for her because I didn't want to see her fall again. She was SO happy and thanked me multiple times.

I think she thought that was the best Mothers day gift she got that year even though that was not my intention.

Sadly , Carol passed away last year from a battle with cancer. The people in the firehouse call that handrail as 'Carol's handrail'
Kinda a legacy in her memory and our other members who are advancing in age appreciate having it there too.

Bunch of rock stars on here for sure Sharon! I'm sure there are a lot more where these came from that just haven't gotten around to sharing yet.
