I’m going to start this off by saying I’m probably not the first guy to think of this,, that being said,, here goes. I primarily have to check my line after work, which means the majority of my sets are either body grips or drowning sets. I have a few prime areas in my area where coni boxes and drowners are not possible…. So, I kinda thought about this,,, why not build a frame, that would hold a bodygrip, inside of a hole you can dig? With a bodygrip pan, I think this is probably going to rock. [Linked Image]

I like your idea. I have 3 to 4 foot sand banks on the river at my cabin. Those banks won't hold a hole, they slough in and bury your trap. The weedy areas that are stable you can't dig through the roots. I go out a couple week early with a sharp tile spade to cut holes but the openings always cave in.

you're only allowed so many sunrises... I aim to see every one of them!

You are not the only one to re-invent the wheel. One day when I was new, I dropped a 220 and it landed perfectly in a bucket. I had an epiphany. I thought I was the smartest trapper in the world. I made a few and murdered the coon. I was really hot XXXX.

Then someone posted the set on T-Man and the air went out of my sails.

Mark the only difference between this and the bucket,,, is that the hole goes directly into the bank with the frame over the hole,,, 160 in a pocket like that is going to probably attract a few more critters like muskrats,,,, I cannot say I’ve ever had a muskrat caught in a bucket set

Tom Krause. He called it the "Outlaw Set". It is in his coon and mink book. Also has great ideas for making folding wire mesh cubbies for conibears. I made wire ones for some for 160's.

Loved reading Toms stories about marten trapping in the American trapper mags…. That’s really cool that Tom had already thought of it. I was pretty sure someone else had come up with the same idea,,, exactly why I said I didn’t want any credit.

I made some of the folding boxes out of pegboard. Worked great. Stacked flat and easy to carry.
