With the cost of good traps I'm not trusting cable stakes. [Linked Image]

My opinion only but no matter how much I twist, pull, shake and wiggle I can't pull a pogo anchor. I don't think I could pull one by hand in 3 days, but I can work a single rebar out pretty easy and a cross stake can be worked out with time though I still trust them fully. I would not discount the cable/chain stakes. In some ground I can dig down within 6 to 8 inches of the washer and still can't pull it and in sand soil I go 24 inches and have never had one pull.

Just to be clear I am not telling you how to do things or that you are wrong. Just sharing my experiences with everyone.

Life sure is tough when you don't learn from the mistakes of others.

I cross stake everything with 3/8 rebar

use double stake swivel plate

when your trapping in a barn a fender washer and a 3 1/2 inch screw in each hole holds them well also

same with double headed nails

America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

Been using 1/2 in for 60 yrs even in professional coyote work. Ill trust it double staked anytime. My concern is with the cable.

If wanting to give yourself the best chance of your trap being there wether it be from critters or people, I'd use super stakes or duck bills with chain the whole way.

Totally agree, specifically with people.

Funny how six different trappers will give you six different answers.

I think we all started with rebar stakes but thank the Lord for earth anchors.
