Sent this to one of my close friends on here. Then thought I'd post it up for others as I have a lot of other tman friends on here too.
Been one - of a year for me. Tore my pec tendon completely off of my arm bone last winter and it took half a year of dedicated therapy to fully mend. Ended up being a great thing though because my preoperative bloodwork indicated I had luekemia so I went through all the tests,, bone marrow biopsy. You name it. Not sure who invented that test but taking a core sample from your hip bone is not a pleasant thing. Cant numb a bone, unfortunately. So, ended up with CML and it even came with a rare variant too. Chromosomes 9 and 22 are the usual culprits that switch places...I also had #6 not playing well with the others. So I started chemo in March. My latest bloodwork BCR/ABL and P91 and P210 all came back completely clear of cancer indicators (that was supposed to be my 18 month milestone...got there in 6) so I keep taking my chemo daily and only have to go in every 3 months now for bloodwork. If I can stay at 0 level (at least undetectable) for next three years might even get to talk about coming off of chemo. One step at a time though. One step at a time... Gearing up for coyotes and coons in a few weeks. Cant wait. Running my 26th half marathon this Sunday. Can't wait. Year is ending so much better than it started. I had no idea what things would be way back in March. Thank you all for your kind thoughts, prayers, and encouragement. I have read and re-read about everything in the archives on here. Kept me going through some tough stretches. You guys rock! Zim and Patrice...those cookies were better than chemo! And God bless my wife . Couldn't have asked for a better caretaker in my corner. Jim

Money cannot buy you happiness, but it can buy you a trapping license and that's pretty close.

Jim, Isn't it amazing what faith, a wife, and a trap line can help you endure Blessings come in all sorts of ways brother. Hit 'em hard on the trap line, listen to your wife, and be sure and thank the One who brought you to your dance. We think differently amidst suffering, don't we. Blessings, Mark

I've never experienced it myself, but some say staring death clearly in the face helps clarify your life. It appears it has done that for you. I wish you continued recovered health and may God continue to hold you in the palm of his hand.
"And God said, Let us make man in our image and let them have dominion and all the creatures that move along the ground". Genesis 1:26

GOD is great! I'm glad you are on the mend and doing well. It's amazing how these huge struggles, we all seem to go through at some point, end up with us living life more fully, with more gratitude and deeper perspective. Some people think God is punishing us with these types of challenges, when nothing could be further from the truth. I pray you continue to mend and have joy.

Your prognosis sounds awesome. Good to hear.
