Does anybody have one? I have one in .308 and love it. I have the opportunity to purchase one in .243. Does anyone happen to know the going rate for one in good shape? I can't seem to find any carbines for sale in .243 on the internet.

Thanks

My dad sold one in .243 25 years ago for $600 bucks and always regretted getting rid of it.

I guess it all depends what part of the world you are in. I saw one at a gunshop not long ago with $1895 on the tag. I thought that was kind of steep.

800-1800. Depends on condition and any factory on later mods
I paid 1100 5 years ago at a flea market for mine. But it was still perfect.

The guy is asking $1250. Only noticeable wear I can see on the gun is around the butt of the stock. Appears to be in really good shape for its age.

There is one on GunBroker right now with 20 bids up to $1130. Minimum bid of $1155 with just 46 hrs left.

My guess it will go $1500 or more.

Still have one in 308 I got for Christmas in 1973. It' killed some elk and deer since then, but has been hiding in the safe for a while now. I probably should get it out and thump something just for old times sake. My friend had a Savage 99 and we used to argue all the time about which was better. Both make good saddle guns.

Wasn’t some of the checkering etched by hand on these and some pressed depending on age? Would that effect value or doesn’t it matter?

The pre-64 had checkering and post 64 had pressed basket weave. This was for the full length rifle version. As far as I know, the carbine versions all had smooth stocks void of checkering.
