We have a hen turkey hanging our place that is very tame. For all I can tell its a wild turkey, not a escaped pen raised bird.
I first ran into it out in the woods. It walked right up to me and scared the day lights out of me. I chased it and tried to catch it but it was always just out of reach. It never flew.
A couple of days later I was in the woods walking down a trail and there was the retarded turkey, coming right down the trail right to me. I stood still and it walked right up to my legs like it was going to rub up against me like a dog. I ended up walking back to the house which was about 1/2 mile away and it followed me the whole way.

Its been around the house for the last couple of days. It scares my wife. It has puffed up its feathers, fanned its tail, tucked it head in just like a strutting tom and gone after her causing her to run back in the house. Its funny as all get out. My wife doesn't go out of the house now without a stick to defend herself. Its done the same to me but I just brush it away with a foot. It follows me around like a dog. It putts and purrs and clucks. I can feed it out of my hand.

Her is a couple of pictures of it by our front porch.

Any diseases out there that might affect a bird this way? If it was a fox or coon I'd suspect rabies.

Odd behavior for sure. Maybe some sort of parasite that affects the brain? Whatever it is, I'm guessing it happened fairly recently because it wouldn't live long acting like that.

We have a large gobbler who pecks on our glass door to be fed sunflower seeds. The pattern repeats every year. Some years there are two birds and once we had three. One year we had a bird with only one spur, Two years ago a snapping turtle grabbed the leg of a gobbler and backed into the pond. It ate the turkey from the inside out, leaving the skin and feathers.

Our turkey is enjoying acorns now and doesn't show up for the sunflower seeds until the acorns are gone or spoiled.

Drunk on fermented wild grapes

I have been feeding it wild grapes. Tho I don't think they are fermented.
She has been around for over a week, That would be on heck of a bender.

They will ferment in there crop

There are 4 wind turbines in my area.
2 are about 2 miles to the south east and 2 about 3-4 miles to the north west.

I don't think they have anything to do with dumb turkey.
If so why aren't all turkeys behaving like this?

I think this is most likely. One of my neighbors feeds the birds and wild turkeys.
I'll have to check with him to see if he is missing one.

My wife is a very girlie girl. She doesn't like the turkey crapping on the porch or on top of my car. And when the turkey comes after her she just runs for the house screaming, well screaming like a little school girl.
Its funny. I tell her not to run, not to show fear, to stand your ground and push it way with your foot. She says she is too scared to do anything but run.

If it is not one of the ones your neighbor feeds , I would not doubt your neighbor would just LOVE to have it hang around his place to get fed and act like a pet there. Plus it solves the problem with your wife.
Let it hang out there , I would not want it on my car or whatever due possibly damaging with it's feet or pooping on the paint.
