There's no such thing as a cold gun. They're all presumed to be loaded all the time.

Hollywood should be using replicas, imho. I bet there will be a new clause in insurance policies of the type probably bought by this production outfit that excludes damages caused by real guns.

Happens all the time where there's accidental discharge and the round kills someone. The person that accidently discharged the gun is often charged.

I know I've heard many news stories where someone thought the gun was not loaded they pulled the trigger and killed someone. They sat in jail.

Bottom line, Alec neglected to make sure the gun was not loaded even though they declared the gun cold and not loaded.

I gotta believe a movie set is not like anywhere else. Everything is fake. I would think a "gun" on a movie set would have to be an inoperable prop........and if not, whoever is responsible for bringing it to the set is to blame. And if it is a prop, it ought to only be able to be loaded with something that cannot be mistaken for a live round. A chamber not deep enough accept a live round with seated bullet, or a barrel that will not allow the passage of a live round. Basically a loud cap gun.

If anyone was dumb enough to bring an operable firearm on a set, one that could be loaded with a live round vs. a blank noise popper, that is who is to blame.

BTW, not a fan of Baldwin. He could disappear from public view for good and would not be missed by me.

Whoever was in charge of the gun and the blanks is the one responsible.

HE had a real live loaded AR 15. SHE had real unloaded pistol, rendered inoperable so as could be taken into court to be used as evidence. Both were charged by a corrupt prosecutor.

But that was a real world situation......not a fake movie set.

I know a lot of you want him to get charged and tossed in prison (I don't like him either). However, under the same circumstances would you say the same thing if it was your wife, kid or brother?

If the gun can shoot a real bullet is it really a “ prop “ gun or a real gun used as a prop to save money, people have been killed with blanks before from wads and small pieces that are discharged.

I wonder if a charge could be brought against the armorer who handed Baldwin the pistol.

News stories say cops are looking at who loaded the gun. Anx over non union people on the set. Mishaps with guns before. Sounded like a bad place to be working.

He will not be charged just like the person who ordered the hellfire dropped on the civilians in afgan...

The assistant director grabbed the gun off the cart and handed it to Baldwin. He yelled cold gun, assuring everyone it wasn't loaded with live rounds. The shooting occurred during a rehearsal. Having been in stage productions I'm assuming that he rehearsed the scene just as written, by pointing and then pulling the trigger. It would be interesting, if there is footage, to see and hear if someone said bang bang as he pulled the trigger.

I would view it as a work place accident.

Cheney was involved in an activity that involves loaded ammunition. Who takes live rounds to a movie shoot, Pardon the pun?

Maybe he should spend a few weekends in jail and have to take firearms training. I think anybody who touched that gun should do the same. A public statement admitting negligence could possibly prevent another tragedy in the future.

If any regular person handed any of us a loaded firearm, told us it was a "cold gun" and we pointed it at someone and shot them, we would almost assuredly be at least charged with involuntary manslaughter.

If an expert handed any of us a loaded firearm, told us it was a "cold gun" and we pointed it at someone and shot them, we would possibly no be charged, which is how I think this case will go.
