A friend asked me to look for some 12 ga 5 or 6 shot. The local Bomgaars has steel shot for goose but nothing for pheasant. Is shotgun ammo as scarce as everything else?

I got my limit of 5 boxes of 20g 6 shot at bass pro a week or so back $8 a box maybe 9. They had a some 16g in 6 also but was Remington and $20 a box so got 20g federal instead. Shot shells have been hit and miss but when they are in it's 7.5 & 8 shot or 00 buck. It was the first # 6 I have seen in over a year. As little as we hunt rabbits we should be good for quite a while now.

Yes they are. I just bought a 16 gauge and it's my first 16. I cant find any ammo for it anywhere. I have several rounds of 12, 20 & 28. If any of you all have any 16 on hand shoot me a PM I would buy or trade.

This is just crazy! What is the world coming to? Is it hoarding or what's the deal?

My fear of moving stairs is escalating!

I'm hearing component issues. I hear now it's plastics that are hard to find. Also hoarding I'm sure.

It's nothing new. There was a lull in it when we had a good president and that is when you all should of stocked up if you hadn't already. It won't get better under the idiot we have in there now. If there is any significant progress in it, there will be a shooting or other big deal that will fire up the panic again.

Had a tough time finding some dove loads here(need to use steel for dove here as they are considered migratory game bird). Ammo shortages starting to hit here in Canada...spoke to a Lakefield Mossberg rep about a month ago and what he said was not encouraging.
Pretty easy to find lead here in 6, 7.5 and 8 but the ammo cases in the store are pretty empty...more than I've ever seen

Just happy to be here.

Those who would give up essential liberty, to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety. Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790)

can you call having a few boxes set aside hoarding?

it's lots of things

but mainly a ton of demand , companies are making ammo 24/7

2020 and 2021 added millions of new gun owners and got millions more back in the feild I had never seen such a busy deer season as 2020 gun deer people out all week hardly a parcel without orange on it.

check small shops I am seeing a little , but at near a buck a round

America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

Scheels in Souix Falls had a ton of ammo last week, prices as high as I've ever seen. I have cases of lead ,steel ,hand gun and rifle ammo and will not pay these prices. As soon as everyone quits buying the prices will come down.

Scheels in Iowa City is the same. There were only a few that were not too over priced, but they had A LOT of ammo available.

Yeah I bought a bunch of 6 shot 20 gauge last week at scheels, great for pheasants. Used em my whole life.
DE Guns had some also.

Money cannot buy you happiness, but it can buy you a trapping license and that's pretty close.

I talked with a rep from Kent ammo back in January and was told with limited components they were focusing on their highest margin ammo which was duck loads. They walked away from supplying the local sporting clays range 100 cases a month to 0 as they were shifting away from target loads because of the low margin.
The local sporting clays range which is WV company went exclusive with Kent because they are manufactured in WV as well only to be left scrambling for ammo once Kent walked away. I shoot a far amount of sporting clays and it has been a challenge staying into ammo.
It looked to be easing up a bit as I noticed the local Walmart’s have been getting more than they have been getting in the past few months but the price is increasing as well.
