My mother is having horrible pain in her legs. She can't seem to get any answers from her doctor. I can recollect hearing years past about someone with similar problems and swore acupuncture helped big time. Anyone here have had it done and was/is it beneficial? Thanks for any replies.

my dad and brother have both done it
my dad had a shooting pain in his face the DR that did his used a slight electric charge and dad held the ground it was all in the scalp
he got relief when he had none from any other DR
America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

I had a slipped disk in lower back chiropractor wasn’t able to put it back. Said he wanted to try AP. I was all in as the pain was horrible when I tried to straighten up. He put in six needles and very little pain then he said he was going to put the trigger pin in and there was going to be a reaction. When he tapped the trigger pin in my lower back I jerked like I imagine a thousand volts would do. He took the needles out and said that should be better I stood up and for the first time in two days I was able to straighten up with very little pain. One more treatment a couple days later and I was able to return to work . So yes and yes.

Acupuncture has been appreciated in this country for a long time. In other countries for centuries.
Like many other treatments that don't support the Ivory Tower, follow the money rhetoric and money , they want followers alone without studies concluded.
Appreciating rolfers , and many others who know the difference between synthetic and natural treatments, looking into the docs and best treatments are vital.
This subject is very dependent on proper research .
The whole body responds to pressure points and acupressure . Much more study than a quick fix here.
I have had some success with acupuncture and would do more if travel were not an issue. I have worked with a Naturalpathic doctor a few times and had success. Back when I could afford a massage once in a while I found that very beneficial. I have and still do work with an Aurverdic bone setter from time to time and he is awesome. Ms. Sharon, I had paid a roller for some body work years ago. I have always vowed if I really had to buy a present for someone I hated I would buy them a few sessions. That was by far about the most freaking painful treatment I have ever got.!!! I stuck with it for five sessions as I was in a lot of pain. One good thing that practitioner causes so much pain I did forget about the pain that I was trying to get rid of! LOL Mac

I've not used acupuncture for pain as some you have mentioned, but I did use it to stop smoking. It worked for me after 2 sessions. I haven't smoked for 33 years now.

Mac, one of the best rolfers in the world that I knew, told me, with a smile...the more snarky the clients, the more they would cry as she fixed their ailments...and hours later, would tell her she saved them all manner of grief.
I have respect of these people, who have studied human anatomy and the nervous system for decades . Most AMA docs don't have a clue in general . I did meet one Asian neurosurgeon in Seattle , who was quite serious in his admittance of this and other procedures, but didn't dare admit in public . Of course.
The most balanced response I have ever heard was from my good friend in natural and holistic medicine, years ago...." there is a place for AMA and natural medicine ..it is good to use them both to work together. "

They cured my back 30 years ago. As someone posted above he used low voltage electrical current on the pins. Back then they called it electro puncture, not sure if they still do. Good luck to her.

A good friend of mine has suffered from back pain almost all of his adult life. Up until a few years ago, he also suffered from addiction to the pain killers that he was prescribed. Acupuncture has given him relief from both of his afflictions.
I'm just a soul whose intentions are good. O Lord please don't let me be misunderstood.

Tried it, and it did nothing for me. Maybe my acupuncturist didn't know what she was doing.
She was cute though.

I had severe back pain, couldn't feel my legs, had a hard time walking. I had ruptured disc and pinched nerve L5-S1. No pain meds. Tried accupuncture the first time the person only put needles in my ankles and hand. I only got 20 minutes of relief. I used them twice. The pain level was unbearable!! I was told about another accupuncturist and went to her. After the first appointment I had pain relief and could feel parts of my legs again. After third appointment no pain and full feeling in both legs. She put needles in my back and calves and used electricity from a 9 volt battery to regenerate my pinched nerve. Only pain during the process was when needle was inserted into the damaged nerve and she quickly adjusted the needle and no more pain. I have had no operations on my back and function very well for the last 5 years. I do go back once in a great while just because it feels so good afterwards. Try to find the most experienced accupuncturist you can. Good luck and please let us know how it goes.

When ever new drugs are tested half the people get a placebo. About 20% of them have improvement.
