Don’t know who was the biggest one the guy that offered me 800 bucks for my 788 in 222 or me for saying no ! Had it since I was 13 Bought from Kmart for 128.00

Have the same gun in .22-250. Had it since I was 12. Put a new stock on it somewhere in the last 20 years. Still shoots like a dream tho.

I refinished the plain stock on this one 25 years ago. That is the most accurate little gun I ever shot. Just realized I've had that gun for 45 years.!!

Ive got one in 222, 22-250 and 243

With that much history it's hard to let it go. That said if I don't use it an am not keeping it for the kids it's for sale even if not advertised. I guess I better get rid of my 260 then considering I have not shot it in 7 years. But it was my first custom and I probably can't get enough out of it.

I got my Dad's 7-08 carbine.

I have 2 of the 788 model both in 22-250. Both are tackdrivers. Bought them back around 1975 or so. Maybe 76. I remember I paid $119 for one and it came with a universal 4X32 thin wire reticle scope. Killed lots of coyotes with that set up first few years i had it. Now one is retired and locked up in my safe. One is still my daytime calling gun. Not for sale at any price..... well almost any. Some one throw me a price with lots of zeros at the end....... maybe !!

I bought my 788 .222 in the early 80's for $174 if my memory serves my right , would not sell it for $800 .

Got 3, 222, 22-250, and 308. I want one in 6mm maybe someday!

Last gun show i hit had one in 6mm but they wanted 750 for it.

Only gun I have ever sold was a 22-250 in 788. Glad it' s long gone. It shot well. Clunky, heavy, stock that didn't fit well. Magazine at the balance point, hard to pack. Magazine rattled constantly unless you just put it down. Magazine release in the way so it kept dropping the mag out. Lost a mag. Tried to replace it and couldn't find one. Didn't like the locking lugs on the bolt.
Replaced it with a Savage. Never have missed the 788.

I probably would have pulled the trigger.

That’s funny got rid of one of Remington’s most accurate rifles for a Savage. I wouldn’t walk across the street for any Savage bolt action.

Had it been 22-250 i would have been tempted
