Got this guy this weekend after losing two...

Not the biggest, but by far the coolest looking ive caught. Most of them here are washed out looking with no spots or pattern.

Young muskies are spotted like that most of the time, but they usually lose the spots in 2-3 years, that one looks to be about 30 inches, so it's pretty rare for it to have spots.

There are places where those spotted color patterns are common even in adult fish, such as St. Clair and Leech Lake.

I have some lakes I fish in remote areas of Northwest Ontario where the muskie have a lot of spot patterns some lakes they even have the spots on their bellies.

Cool fish!

St Clair is one of those places indeed. Its just not a pattern we see here

Fresh water coyotes I call them.

Sure wish this dumb state would open them up to spearing (and liberalize the fishing take). A lot more under the ice than most people realize.

Why these things are up on a pedestal is only money related.

Nice markings on a good looking fish. I have caught a lot of them from different waters and noticed that some lakes have fish that are more distinctly marked than others. Some places they have hardly any markings at all.

I'm just happy to be here! Today I'm as young as I'll ever be and and older than I've ever been before!

About 5% of MN fishermen fish for muskies. Yet, the DNR keeps playing God and planting them in more lakes. They meet with the landowners. The majority of the landowners say they don't want them. But, they plant them anyway. They justify their actions by saying they had a meeting with the landowners on the lake. It is all about the money.

At first glance, you'd think that was a "touched up " photo, but who would put that kind of work into the fish and not fix the guy holding it!!!

That’s some cool markings!

We’ve got some some pretty tiger musky around but most aren’t very big

Guess I'm one of the 5%'s that would like the DNR to continue stocking muskie at the level they did in the 90's.

Help yourself.

Here on Georgian Bay there were musky here 100 years ago, and theres still a decent population.

I was unaware they were a species that took well to stocking

They look big enough to put up a good fight so getting a picture with a colored up one would just be a bonus for me.

I bet you could learn a lot even by watching one of those little guys.

Figuring them out this summer has been a ton of fun. I am at ten, but havent got one over 50" yet. Darn close though.

Man, sometimes once you hook one its like dropping a crowbar across a boat battery. Out of the water, in the water,...and the headshakes. I bet I hook 1 in every 4 I hooked up with this summer.

The closest thing to that down here is the jack pike or chain pickerel. If those bigguns come out of the water and talk walk like these do I bet they're a blast to catch.
