A college is built on the land I first started on, dorms parking lots and all sorts of buildings. I drove through there two years ago and could not even get orientated to where the swamp was. My high school trap line is under Newark airport where we used to race cars on the runway or taxiway(I guess) but none of that is allowed now I am sure........jk

I still trap on much of the land where I first started my trapping adventure . I am on the third generation of owners on some of the farms . Just starting my 70th year trapping . One of those farms was trapped by my trapping partners Father before I started trapping there . His dad was trapping that land over 90 years ago . He would always want to hear my catch stories at church each Sunday . Many times he would tell me he had caught fur in the same set locations I had set . Some of those location are still producing fur to this day . The spots I caught my first rat , mink , fox ,coon, beaver, and coyote are still there . Each year I relive the memories and make some more .

Yep, I only live 1/4 mile from my childhood home and can look out back and see where I caught my first fox. There's a house in that corner of the field now, smack dab on top of the spot! frown

I've traped the river ever since my Grandad took me there Coon trapping as a toddler.

I wade a stretch of creek every year just because I did as a kid. That’s the only place I make it a point to.

I often wish i had made different decisions years ago which would have put me back where i grew up. I still do some hunting around there now and then. The land is what i miss most.

I'd have to set a stones throw of the front door of the church thats built there now. That 1st coon was 47 years ago. I can remember it like it was yesterday. I only had three trap 2 #1 longs and 1 # 0 long .I was 10 years old. Sold 1 coon and 4 rats in the round at a bait shop in Johnston IA . Used the money to buy supplies from mnm furs in bridge water south dakota. Now I was a pro!! LOL . I've never looked back.

You ever trap the same spot you first ever laid steel? I kind of dream about it as a cool bucket list kind of thing now.

Some of the same places every year.

I made a little trek through my old stomping grounds about a month ago.

Wow.

It is either developed, or has more "no trespassing" signs than I could shoot up in an entire season.

It was 1960 when I caught my first fox and raccoon. A freeway is located there now. Also, it is 2,000 miles from where I live now.
