If the bottom of my boots smell like ATF,
it's going to blow up my confidence.
Been there.

Drag a dead skunk on a cord behind your truck.

Coyotes have no problem using fields that have been plowed, planted and harvested with tractors that have a noticeable difference between the upper side and the greasy side...

Tractors don't leak oil, they sweat horsepower! Don't worry about it.

Tractors and most farm equipment leak more then most vehicles around here. Just go to a home improvement store and get some HD totes or a storage box with a lid to cut down on smells. With the totes I use a gun lock to keep the lids from blowing out of the truck.

I trap some industrial timberland tracts, and coyotes are used to smelling hydraulic, and motor oil that has been leaked by logging equipment.

If you’re driving a vehicle, you’re probably driving it where other vehicles have driven, for the most part.

Roads, two tracks, field edges, coyotes are used to the sights sounds and smells of vehicles in those places.

Go off road that truck 5-10 miles back into some rough stuff where vehicles “don’t belong”, and it may be a totally different story.

Coyotes and other canines and species, walk and run field roads and two tracks all the time, so lubricant odors are very common to most of them from my perspective. The advantage we have here is all those odors get covered up by 10-15k of liquid manure. UGH! About the only thing that spends time in the chisel plowed liquid manure corn fields here are the turkeys, so I guess that tells me what they eat and how they may taste. Even the gulls stay off after the manure, but by then the worms are mostly gone as well.

If it never hurt them, why would thry ever be afraid of it? Lots of vehicle drippings on lanes around here.
Now the pickup that chases them and stops to shoot at them...that's something to fear if you are a coyote.
